This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Vice President, Wildlife Biologist who is responsible for managing and developing opportunities. This candidate will work with WSP's very successful Biological Resources technical staff and expanding our firm's visibility with key business sectors and client organizations in the environmental services marketplace. This role will be based out of our Branch Office in San Diego, CA. The candidate should possess a balanced portfolio of wildlife biology and natural resources permitting skills to manage a successful operation, including business development, and demonstrated relationship-building abilities. The candidate should have existing connections with Southern California clients, specifically in the San Diego Region.

Your Impact

• Provide leadership in technical, business development, financial and administrative aspects of the consulting business to sustain and expand a successful environmental operation while growing additional, related disciplines

• Coordination with other units across the West U.S. and the Company

• Develop strategic plan and financial budgets for group

• Lead business development for group

• Manage the financials aspects with monthly and quarterly business metric reporting

• Communicate effectively with clients, staff and WSP leadership

• Develop existing staff and identify and recruit new prospects for future growth

• Assure delivery of quality products

• Provide senior review and direction on technical projects

• Serve as project manager and/or project expert on specific tasks or projects

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field.

• 12+ years of Biology experience in a corporate environment in technical and management roles with an environmental consulting firm, experience in several local key market sectors (e.g., municipal, utilities, energy)

• Experience with growing client programs utilizing multi-disciplined resources from across the Company

• Expert knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of biological consulting, including flora, fauna, and habitats of California; special-status species and resources; and relevant federal, state, and local regulations of environmental resources

• Experienced in successfully providing leadership to diverse (both technically and geographically) project teams.

• Must be able to influence and lead team members both those with direct reporting relationships and those who report to others

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong personal safety culture and proven experience driving a safety culture

• Experience in successfully advocating and/or negotiating with regulatory agencies and third parties in favor of client positions

• Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Compensation

Expected Salary: $128,400- $231,200

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Summary Position Summary The Health Services and Informatics Research Scientist is a key member of the Parkview Research Center (PRC), focusing on Health Services and Informatics Research. This role is responsible for developing the scientific foundation and methodology for research proposals—both internal and external—and preparing associated protocols for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission. The scientist collaborates closely with other members of the health services research team to execute study protocols, apply rigorous scientific methods, and lead data analysis efforts. Due to the unique and applied nature of the Health Services and Informatics Research Lab at Parkview Health, this role plays a vital part in identifying and addressing real-world problems within the health system. The scientist partners with clinical colleagues to design and implement projects aimed at improving healthcare processes and patient outcomes. Responsibilities include the development of robust program evaluations, interdisciplinary research protocols, and competitive grant proposals. This position is also charged with building a sustainable research platform by securing external funding. The ideal candidate is capable of working independently across all phases of research—including study design, decision-making, data analysis, and problem solving. They will also lead the development of peer-reviewed manuscripts and other forms of dissemination, such as conference presentations. The scientist manages and monitors work plans to ensure timely progress toward project goals and deliverables. The role requires adaptability to align with the working styles of both internal team members and external collaborators. The successful candidate will cultivate strong professional relationships, contribute to a collegial and inclusive team environment, and actively support the growth and success of peers and projects across PRC. Education PhD in a field applicable to health services research (e.g., Health Informatics, Computer Science, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction Design, Social Computing, etc.). Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in field research and data analysis required. Post-doctoral fellowship or prior professional experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Other Qualifications Proficient in advanced research methodologies, including statistical techniques and study design across epidemiology, behavioral, clinical, and translational research. Ability to independently execute research activities aligned with organizational goals. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven track record in producing high-quality research outputs, such as grant proposals, abstracts, manuscripts, and conference materials. Expertise in methods related to human-computer interaction design and applied health informatics is highly valued.
