The HUS Director of Strategic Sourcing has two areas of responsibility across the four strategic business units of the Hubbell Utility Solutions Segment. This role will have the responsibility for the direct spend on chemical-based commodities, castings, fabrications, forgings, stampings, electronics, custom hardware, plating / finishing, processed plastic, rubber and glass across the four strategic business units (Transmission and Distribution, Grid Automation, Specialty Infrastructure and Integrated Substation Solutions. Secondly, this role will be responsible for developing and leading a suppler sole source de-risk strategy. This position will report to the Senior Director, Sourcing HUS.

• Familiarity of products, operational processes, and compliance requirements.
• Development of organization strategy for aggregating commodity purchases and selecting competitive sources.
• Creation and management of short, mid, and long-term goals and objectives.
• Creation and improvement of best-practice-based processes
• Management of business process outsourcing activities.
• Identification, tracking and realization of cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities.
• Ownership for the productivity initiatives for cost out and value add and value engineering.
• Manage direct reports in and across sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and miscellaneous internalprocurement support activities.
• Development of benchmarks and scorecards to be used for continuous improvement.
• Supply Chain Analysis
• Create risk rating system to prioritize projects.
• Lead/Support supplier sourcing, evaluation and selection, negotiation, performance monitoring, relationship management, and continuous improvement in support of managed projects.
• Work closely with cross-functional leadership to develop and maintain risk reducing strategies.
• Supervise and report on project strategies, supervising spend, business allocation, capability gap analysis and facilitate cross-functional review and evaluation.
• Develop strategies for the mitigation of risk in the supply chain, overall and for specific new product programs.
• Organize and lead regular strategic supplier business reviews.
• Lead sourcing and negotiations, implementation of agreements and integration of key suppliers, performance monitoring, ongoing supplier contract management for assigned commodities on an as needed basis.
• Generate and present project performance metrics to Leadership and project stakeholders.

Direct Spend: Direct day-to-day responsibility for managing and supporting the efforts of a Sourcing Manager responsible for their respective commodities. This will include working with the internal Strategic Business Unit stakeholders on productivity improvement strategies as well as the ongoing Supply Chain performance management and improvement.

Supplier Risk Mitigation : Develop and execution of risk reducing direct material sourcing strategies for Hubbell Utility Solutions. Primary focus will be the review of casting, forging, stamping, electronics and fiberglass product spend by region and determining action plans to reduce risk while considering total cost of ownership. In addition, this role will provide leadership to the Hubbell Utility Solutions and organization and coordinate with Hubbell Corporate Sourcing to develop best cost options for supply. Workload and strategy creation will be balanced across multiple Hubbell Utility Systems Business Units to create optimum risk reduction.

• BS in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance or Engineering
• 5-10 years validated experience or training/equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working with manufacturing engineering and program management teams.
• Experience in negotiation internal and external to a matrixed corporate environment.
• Materials management, JIT, TCO, and Working Capital.
• CPSM or APICS certification a plus.

Position: Director or Senior Manager, Estimating and Preconstruction

Salary: $150,000 - $220,000 per year

Location: Birmingham, AL (relocation available)

• Drive competitive results for estimating endeavors
• Assign estimating requirements to support staff for each project, based on schedule and needs
• Coordinate technical proposal requirements with business development/marketing departments
• Develop initial project schedules and work plans
• Develop program and project risk analysis and clearly communicate risks to Leadership
• Build positive relationships and alliances with vendor and subcontractor community
• Develop detailed basis of estimates for the qualifications and assumptions of the estimate
• Work with Self-perform; perform detailed quantity-takeoff, labor estimates, and work plans for self-perform scopes of work (carpentry and concrete)
• Maintain and update databases used for conceptual and detailed estimates, including Bill of Materials
• Provide value analysis of plans & specifications including coordination, completeness, and clarity
• Communication and coordination with Design, Manufacturing, and Construction teams
• Assist program teams in change management estimating
• Document and communicate lessons learned into continuous improvement processes
• Monitor the department’s budgets, bids and GMPs; review and implement strategies to sustain efficiencies and accuracy
• Evaluate risk on projects when preparing bids or GMPs and ensure pricing supports profitability
• Develop, review, and implement pricing strategies with input from BD, operations, and related departments
• Coordinate preparations of bids and GMPs with operations and ensure proper operational input was provided (general conditions, logistics, planning)
• Work with MEP & BIM Services to assist with procedures and standards
• Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development and GMP estimates to support preconstruction activities and clients
• Maintain and adjust to Owner’s budget as required to maintain project budget
• Monitor design scope changes affecting budget or schedule; advise client on decisions
• Keep client informed of preconstruction progress and any significant technical problems/solutions and their effect on design and/or costs
• Identify and promote solutions to problems impacting progress or client relations
• Lead value engineering and value enhancement efforts for clients
• Prepare and/or oversee materials presented to owner, architect, or engineer
• Lead and perform constructability reviews of projects under preconstruction management
• Ensure smooth turnover from preconstruction/estimating to operations with proper handoffs
• Initiate billing processes and approve invoices prior to submittal to client
• Participate in client presentations as required and assist in contract review/approval
• Finalize GMP pricing with client to meet needs and profitability within terms
• Assist in negotiating owner contracts
• Assist and lead purchasing of subcontractors and suppliers or determine per project
• Contribute to new work acquisition efforts, including proposals and presentations
• Collaborate with BD leadership to plan and implement a business plan to improve services
• Maintain relationships with clients through construction and with related entities (architects, engineers, owner’s reps)
• Attend meetings with potential clients and develop relationships for future work

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the Construction Industry
• Professional licenses and registrations are a plus
• Experience with technology such as estimating, scheduling, and project management
• High level of communication skills to lead meetings and client engagements effectively
