About this opportunity:

At Freenome, we are searching for a proven and collaborative Accounting Manager to join our team! As an Accounting Manager, you will analyze, collaborate and drive to completion all accounting activities. In addition, you will be pivotal in developing and implementing processes and systems for processing, analyzing, verifying, and reporting accurate accounting information. In this role, you will report directly to our Director, Accounting. This role will be a Hybrid role based in our Brisbane, California headquarters.

What you'll do:
  • Monthly & quarterly close general ledger reconciliations for accounts such as Fixed Assets, Expense accruals and clinical trial accruals
  • Prepare, maintain and update standard operating procedures and internal controls for assigned areas to establish compliance related to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly flux analysis and financial reporting
  • Support interim and year end audit preparations, explanations and documentation
  • Prepare tax related support for filings such as Property Tax, Sales and Use Tax as well as government surveys
  • Identify and drive areas of process improvement to reduce the accounting close process, enhance existing procedures, controls and streamline operations
  • Assist in various system Implementations in preparation of commercialization
  • Ad-hoc projects as the company continues to grow

Must haves:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA preferred
  • 6+ years of accounting experience, preferably in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals industry
  • Superior analytical and modeling skills including advanced proficiency in Excel and the ability to quickly manipulate and analyze large data sets and build reports

Benefits and additional information:

The US target range of our base salary for new hires is $131,325 - $201,000. Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.

Interpret U.S. GAAP accounting standards and SEC guidance to determine the accounting and financial reporting treatment for new, material, and/or complex, unusual transactions or agreements and partner with key cross-functional business partners including our US and international accounting teams, senior management, internal and external auditors

Prepare and or review technical accounting memorandums for significant or new transactions

Active role in updating/implementing accounting policies and procedures to respond to changes within the Company, evolving industry standards, SEC/GAAP regulations, SOX 404 requirements, best practices and drive changes in those areas

Monitor, understand and provide interpretation of new and proposed accounting pronouncements including areas related to accounting for revenue recognition and assist key stakeholders in assessing financial, operational and reporting implications.

Assist in the preparation of periodic forms filed with the SEC (Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K)

Work with internal partners on initiatives to improve the organization including (but not limited to) new processes, procedures or system enhancements

Assist with ad hoc projects and prepare responses to various requests for information

Responsible for 404 compliance for direct areas of responsibility and support overall 404 compliance

Experience:

Job Summary: The individual will oversee the consolidation of financial statements in Business Objects Financial Consolidation (BOFC) under the supervision of the Sr. Manager, Financial Reporting and Consolidation.   • Preferred experience in Renewables/Energy sector in an international environment.
  • Ability working with Business Objects Financial Consolidation (BOFC) or Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) software preferred.
  • SAP/ERP experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite must possess particularly strong Excel skills and be knowledgeable in Word and Outlook.
  • Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can work independently but also work as part of a team. Must be self-motivated, well organized and a demonstrated problem solver.
  • Strong communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform necessary accounting and consolidation research and analysis of complex financial transactions and preparation of comprehensive memorandums of process and approach.
  • Experience working with teams, leading projects, and collaborating with other functions to solve complex business issues.
MUST HAVE:
  • Accounting Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years in accounting, preferably with a focus on financial consolidation.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Experience with SAP for data mining and analysis.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Industry Experience:
    • Renewable energy experience is preferred, but experience in the broader energy sector is acceptable.
  • Accounting Standards Knowledge:
    • Solid understanding of US GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Ability to perform analytical reviews for Balance Sheets, P&L, and Cash Flow Statements.
    • Experience with complex financial transactions and consolidation processes.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team setting.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Availability:
    • Willingness to work a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, and 2 days remote) from anyone location out of San Diego, CA, Houston, TX, Oakland, CA, Bloomington, MN, or Brooklyn, NY .
  • Software Experience:

  • Languages: Proficiency in French for communication with the Paris team.
