Position Purpose:

Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers!

The Driver, Hourly CDL-A is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive and drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
  • Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed. Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards. Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Performs count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded. Checks and completes in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight.
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule. Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy. Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Collects money (cash or checks) where required.
  • Loads customer returns on to trailer and secures trailer doors. Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured.
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork. Unloads all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required. At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification:

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent

6+ months commercial driving experience

Valid CDL-A Must be 21+ years of age

Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)

Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years

Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check

Pass road test

Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card

Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location

  • Lead and continuously improve the Safety Management System across the division.

  • Lead and direct the Safety Learning Strategy across the division.

  • Lead the Management of Change, Safety in Design and Construction Safety Projects across the site.

  • Engage and collaborate with internal customers to develop strategic safety improvement plans and drive them to produce desired safety results and meet established targets.

  • Lead, direct, and disseminate safety programs for all the businesses plants, including development of policies and processes to ensure safety compliance, as well as determining and implementing any necessary corrective action in safety programs.

  • Advise and instruct operating management concerning the organization's safety objectives .

  • Conduct annual audits to evaluate operating performance to established policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.

  • Coordinate audits with external partners such as insurance carriers.

  • Lead and develop Safety team, including the creation of individual development plans to foster continuous professional growth and development.

  • Promote a safe working environment for all employees at all Charter business specific sites.

  • Manage accident investigation and corrective actions, housekeeping, and safety auditing processes.

  • Support and serve as a resource for safety teams to utilize their knowledge of day-to-day operations regarding safety to drive improvements and create value added processes.

  • Assist teams to arrive at the accident root cause(s) and to develop an action plan and follow-up system that eliminates recurrence .

  • Manage Worker's Compensation and return to work program.

  • Manage the justification and prioritization of safety resources, including capital , across the Charter business specific sites.

  • Maintain and oversee safety records including but not limited to OSHA logs and OSHA compliance documentation .

  • Develop direct reports. Hire, assign and review work, interview, train, discipline, evaluate performance, enforce policies, and recommend changes on employee status.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field.

  • Seven plus years' progressive safety experience, including a minimum of four years at a plant level and prior supervisory responsibility for safety professionals.

  • Experience in Worker's Compensation Insurance.

  • A working background with team environments and coordinating safety initiatives (SDWT, problem solving teams or work cells) or equivalent team training.

  • Demonstrated practical experience in safety process improvement and statutory requirements.

  • Experience interacting with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to interpret and apply OSHA regulations on a practical basis.

  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate successfully with multiple levels within an organization using tact and discretion.

  • Demonstrated skills in the area of partnering with operational groups to develop and achieve strategic safety goals.

  • Strong personal initiative and demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Office software products.

  • Schedule: Hybrid role, 3 days per week in the office

Key responsibilities:

Network Architecture & Integration

  • Design and deploy industrial network architectures supporting MES, SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and IIoT.

  • Configure and maintain industrial Ethernet, VLANs, and segmented networks.

  • Integrate OT and IT networks to enable secure data flow between production and enterprise systems.

  • Apply zero-trust architecture to secure PLCs, robots, IoT devices, and SCADA components.

System Monitoring & Performance

  • Develop tools and teams for continuous monitoring of OT network traffic, latency, and uptime.

  • Optimize network performance for high availability and real-time machine communication.

  • Diagnose and resolve plant issues related to latency, interference, and other network root causes.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with ISA/IEC 62443, NIST, and ISO 27001 standards.

  • Conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and manage patching for industrial systems.

  • Develop and maintain incident response plans for network failures and cyber threats.

  • Implement backup and recovery strategies for network configurations.

Operational Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide technical escalation support for plant engineers, maintenance, and IT teams.

  • Troubleshoot automation system connectivity issues in a 24/7/365 environment.

  • Support integration of new plant equipment through architecture and device configuration.

Documentation & Change Management

  • Maintain network diagrams, security policies, and compliance documentation.

  • Document configurations, change management records, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Assess and develop Management of Change (MoC) processes for OT systems.

Data & System Integration

  • Support data architecture across SCADA, MES, ERP, and business intelligence systems.

  • Implement critical system solutions in continuous operation environments.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Network Engineering, Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in network administration, IT/OT systems, or industrial automation consisting of PLC, I/O, IIOT, Thin Clients, Managed Switches, and other ICS network components in manufacturing.

  • Understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.

  • 3+ years of experience with industrial network protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, OPC UA, DNP3).

  • 3+ years of experience with integration of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network security principles.

  • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and risk management for OT environments.

  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, SNMP monitoring, or NetFlow.

Nice to have:

  • 6+ years of experience in network administration, IT/OT systems, or industrial automation consisting of SCADA, PLC, I/O, IIOT, Thin Clients, Managed Switches, and other ICS network components in manufacturing.

  • Industrial Control System (ICS) certifications

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - Industrial

  • Will collaborate with the maintenance and operations team to fix root-cause issues and reduce downtime of the operation

  • Enable the design, selection, management, programming, and commissioning of automation equipment used to improve the existing systems

    • Contribute to the estimation and management for projects

    • Design electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic machine controls

    • Enable Advanced Process Control Systems

    • Program, commission, and debug PLC programs. Work with Operational Technology Engineers to interface control systems with HMI, MES, and SQL database systems

  • Identify opportunities to increase safety, reduce costs, increase efficiency, and improve quality

  • Follow Safety Management System, Environmental, and Quality procedures and requirements

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or commensurate experience

  • Three plus years of professional experience with automation and control systems design

  • Knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric code, UL508A)

  • Knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI B11/RIA 15, OSHA)
