Salary and Benefits Base Salary: GL-9/GS-11: 63,148 - 120,145 per year Locality Pay: Varies by duty location Overtime: Up to 25% additional pay This is a career ladder position progressing from GL-9 to GS-11 to GS-12. Duties and Responsibilities As a BPA, you help protect the U.S. by securing borders, stopping illegal activity, and supporting economic stability. Typical assignments include: * Questioning individuals and inspecting documents and property * Apprehending undocumented individuals or smugglers using covert surveillance and infrared scopes * Tracking and interpreting signs of illegal entry * Performing farm, traffic, building, city, and transport checks * Patrolling using vehicles, horses, boats, ATVs, snowmobiles, or motorcycles Qualifications GL-9: One year of specialized experience at the next lower level, including: * Searching detained persons, vehicles, and surroundings * Apprehending or restraining suspects in violation of law * Using firearms, writing reports, serving warrants, and gathering case evidence GS-11: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, including: * Using intelligence to monitor criminal threats and operations * Leading fraud or contraband investigations * Apprehending violators using surveillance and detection tech There is no education substitution for GL-9 or GS-11 positions.
