Job Summary
The Lead office Nurse LPN is responsible as the office point of contact for nursing and clinical activities. Assists Medical Group office management by leading daily clinical operations and delivery of quality care in accordance with established procedures, standards and regulatory requirements. Maintains a professional, safe and therapeutic environment for rendering care. Delivers direct patient care while providing guidance to clinical staff.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Assists office management by coordinating the daily work of clinical employees in a primary care office. Relays work instructions, distributes assignments and monitors work for quality and completeness. Promotes effective teamwork throughout the department and assists staff through upcoming and ongoing changes.
- Provides direct patient care as an LPN including assisting providers and within scope of practice.
- Acts as the central point of contact for nursing and clinical standards within office setting.
- Acts as the central point of contact for nursing clinical practice work flows as it relates to the electronic medical record (EMR), quality initiatives (i.e. closure to gaps in care, overdue results, etc.).
- Designated as the resource for the nursing/clinical team related to nursing scope of practice and skill competency.
- Assists office management with the orientation of new hires on clinical policy and procedures; assists in the professional development of staff; plays a key role in the competency assessment process and nursing skill checklist completion. Ensures all clinical staff have the resources, tools and training necessary to fulfill their duties.
- Serves as the nursing resource liaison between internal/external departments, such as laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other key clinical areas.
- Maintains knowledge of the organizational policy and procedures in order to navigate, support, and ensure a professional, safe environment while following regulatory requirements. ensure clinical policies and procedures comply with current state and federal guidelines.
- Clinical expert in their areas of assignment allows engagement with staff nurses in clinical decision making and problem solving.
- Identifies and recommends solutions to procedural issues/opportunities and works directly with the Office Manager to resolve. Makes recommendations to ensure quality, compliance, safety and cost efficiency.
- Ensures and maintains adequate clinical supplies, medication storage and PAR level management.
- Ensures clinical equipment remains in operating condition. Ensure emergency equipment/meds remain up to date and in appropriate operating condition.
- Attends office staff meetings and training sessions. Relay pertinent information to clinical team members timely.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- At least 2-3 years' experience working within the primary care setting.
- Proficient ability in use of electronic medical record, specifically established nursing work flows.
- Problem solving, decision making and critical thinking.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, written, and verbal communication and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with variety of clinicians, providers, staff and patients in positive manner.
- Ability to adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities.
