ATTRIBUTES

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited US program and be registered with ARDMS or Registry eligible. Must have current BLS.

  • Must be fluent in scanning all aspects of Ultrasound: (ie: OB/GYN/Breast/Venous/Arterial/Abdomen/Pelvis/Soft tissue/TV/Interventional procedures, etc)

  • Must be able to work holidays per hospital schedule, must be able to take call and respond within 30minutes

  • Must be willing to travel to EJ Noble, Main Hospital or OB Office at Lawrence Ave to provide coverage as needed.

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, work independently and lift 1/- 50lbs

  • Looking for candidate that embraces customer service and who can work with all facets of Healthcare providers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Title:  Medical Technologist

SUMMARY:  

 As a member of the professional medical team, accurately performs clinical laboratory analyses and examinations by approved department procedures on blood, urine, body fluids and tissues within a published turn around time using a variety of instruments and methods to assist in physician diagnosis and treatment. They are expected to utilize complex problem solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems. This position requires exercise of independent judgment, theoretical knowledge and responsibility. They are to follow all regulatory lab requirements.  

RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Correctly performs testing in an accurate and timely manner.  

  • Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis and clinical condition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so that appropriate action can be taken.  

  • Communicates stat and critical lab results and prolonged instrument malfunctions causing delays in test results to physicians, nursing units and other appropriate medical personnel. 

  • Performance of QC, routine and advanced maintenance and analyze/instrument troubleshooting activities. 

  • Accurately prepares reagents and maintains proper inventory of laboratory section supplies with appropriate cost containment in mind. 

  • Maintains knowledge of required computer functions associated with ordering testing, performing testing, resulting testing and calling up various reports to assist in completing testing and the management of workflow. 

  • Teaches in the School of Medical Technology and Lab rotations as called upon to do so. 

  • Meets all regulatory lab requirements consistently.  

  • Additional duties and responsibilities as requested by manager. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • New York State Department of Education License, Provisional Permit, or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

Job Title:  Respiratory Therapist
Department:  Respiratory Therapy
Location:  Gouverneur Hospital
Hours Per Week:  per diem
Schedule:   12 hour variable shift
 

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Manager and Respiratory Therapy Director the Respiratory therapist performs all aspects of and assures continuity of quality respiratory care. Adhere to the professional standards of the National Board for Respiratory Care, the New York State Education Department and Gouverneur Hospital. The respiratory therapist at Gouverneur Hospital will be comfortable working in the emergency room, medical surgical floor and a transport setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must use initiative and independent judgment in critical situations.

  • Uses knowledge to address adverse reactions to therapy or medications including respiratory distress and failure.

  • Authorized to accept verbal and telephone orders from physicians for respiratory care. Therapist will be expected to write orders for medications pertaining to the cardiopulmonary system which will be co-signed by the provider.

  • Assists in the development of work methods, job planning, and the planning of patient rounds.

  • Therapist will have knowledge of a wide variety of physiology and epidemiology of cardiopulmonary disease and dysfunction and proper knowledge of how to treat

  • Plans and provides Respiratory Care in service programs to hospital staff as needed.

  • Responsible to assure that quality respiratory care is delivered to all patients as per orders and/or schedule.

  • Performs all aspects of respiratory care including but not limited to Medication administration, Pulmonary Functions Testing, ventilation management, Intubation, and other modalities of Respiratory Care.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of new services.

  • Preform Electrocardiogram when needed.

  • Perform Methacholine Challenge Testing when needed in the Pulmonary Function Lab

  • Therapist will be expected to be part of a treatment team with all patients that they are consulted on. This includes admission, care during their stay and discharge planning.

  • Administer inhalation therapy as well as IV medication if they pertain to the cardiopulmonary system as applicable by the New York State scope of practice for the RRT.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New York State License from NYS Department of Education.

  • Certified with the National Board for Respiratory Care.

  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification by the American Heart Association

  • Two years of clinical experience in Respiratory care.

SUMMARY

Performs diagnostic CT and X-ray exams, Screening CT exams and interventional CT procedures in accordance with approved techniques and standards as established by Radiologists, governing and accrediting bodies. Completes the necessary documentation for each exam to ensure Radiologist can provide quality diagnostic interpretation and MH can bill accordingly. Communicates with Radiologist and department Leadership on a routine basis to ensure a high level of care and service for patients and to meet provider needs. Operates CT scanner, general diagnostic radiographic equipment and ancillary support systems to perform CT and diagnostic radiographic procedures per provider orders. This is in accordance with approved techniques, policies and regulatory standards as established by regulatory agencies, standards and policies set forth by the organization. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.

ATTRIBUTES

  • A valid NYS radiology license and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R). ARRT(CT) preferred. Must be ARRT registered in CT within 6 months of hire.

  • Preferred: One year work experience in a hospital setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides daily coordination for all CT studies, ensures that patient and provider needs are met, and communication is maintained between all parties to include staff, radiologists, providers, and patients.
  • Performs CT procedures utilizing the principles and knowledge of anatomy, positioning and radiographic techniques to include collimation, shielding, and exposure factors to minimize radiation dose to the patient
  • Under the direction and guidance of the radiologist facilitates implementation and communication of new or updated protocols to internal and external care areas and providers.
  • Follows organizational standards to include but not limited to patient identification, patient education, consents, and order verification and infection control. Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient, family, and staff and verifies pregnancy status if appropriate per department and regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for QA/QC procedures as designated and maintains standards of these programs. This includes processes involving
  • CT equipment, image quality, documentation and radiation dose reporting and control.

Job Title: Medical Technologist

Department: Laboratory Services

Location:  Gouverneur Hospital

Hours Per Week: 40 scheduled weekly hours

Schedule: 8 hour shifts 

SUMMARY:

As a member of the professional medical team, accurately performs clinical laboratory analyses and examinations by approved department procedures on blood, urine, body fluids and tissues within a publishedturn aroundtime using a variety of instruments and methods to assist in physician diagnosis and treatment. They are expected to utilize complex problem solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems. This position requires exercise of independent judgment, theoretical knowledge and responsibility. They are to follow all regulatory lab requirements. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Correctly performs testing in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis and clinical condition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so that appropriate action can be taken. 
  • Communicates stat and critical lab results and prolonged instrument malfunctions causing delays in test results to physicians, nursing units and other appropriate medical personnel.
  • Performance of QC, routine and advanced maintenance and analyze/instrument troubleshooting activities.
  • Accurately prepares reagents and maintains proper inventory of laboratory section supplies with appropriate cost containment in mind.
  • Maintains knowledge of required computer functions associated with ordering testing, performing testing, resulting testing and calling up various reports to assist in completing testing and the management of workflow.
  • Teaches in the School of Medical Technology and Lab rotations as called upon to do so.
  • Meets all regulatory lab requirements consistently. 
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as requested by manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • New York State Department of Education License, Provisional Permit, or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS in Medical Technology or BS in a related Science
  • Certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
