Job Title:  Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

SUMMARY:

An Advanced Emergency Medical Technician provides immediate basic and advanced medical care and transport of patients during emergencies, playing a critical role in stabilizing and ensuring safe transport to medical facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responds to emergency calls, assess patients’ conditions, and determine appropriate medical interventions, coordinating with dispatch as necessary.

  • Safely transport patients to medical facilities, monitoring their condition and providing necessary care during transit.

  • Administer CPR, control bleeding, manage airways, and provide other life-saving measures to stabilize patients within Scope of Practice as recognized by NYS.

  • Utilize essential medical equipment such as, but not limited to, defibrillators, oxygen delivery systems.

  • Work closely with paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, and hospital staff to ensure coordinated patient care reporting nature of injury as indicated.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient care reports, documenting assessments, treatments, and patient responses.

  • Ensure the cleanliness and readiness of emergency vehicles and medical equipment.

  • Interpret oral, written and diagnostic form instructions, including calculating weight and volume ratios.

  • Lift and move patients, often in challenging environments, such as extreme terrain or temperatures.

SUMMARY:

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides immediate medical care and transport of patients during emergencies, playing a critical role in stabilizing and ensuring safe transport to medical facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responds to emergency calls, assess patients’ conditions, and determine appropriate medical interventions, coordinating with dispatch as necessary.
