Job Description
The ICU Registered Nurse will provide direct and indirect patient care in a community hospital setting. The nurse will be responsible for effectively communicating with team members about changes in patients' clinical conditions and updates in care. The ability to quickly and accurately respond to changes in patient status is essential.
Responsibilities
- Perform head-to-toe assessments on all patients, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques.
- Revise plans of care as indicated by patient responses to treatment.
- Interpret results of waived testing and take appropriate action.
- Administer medications correctly based on age and clinical condition while following medication rights.
- Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical skills.
- Identify and address the psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
- Document all patient interactions following current standards and policies.
- Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current New York State Registered Nurse Licensure.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Completion of a Nurse Residency Program is mandatory for RNs with less than one year of experience.
