Job Functions: 

• Troubleshoot and repair light mechanical issues that may include wheel-end assemblies, electrical systems, suspensions, A/C, or engine components 

• Assist customers with roadside services 

• Provide preventative maintenance services 

• Ability to move, lift 75+ pounds working in close quarters. Ability to work in various temperatures. 

• Always put the safety and satisfaction of your customers first, complying with company safety policies & procedures. 

• Work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed. 

• Ability to obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation. (paid by Love’s)

Join Clean Harbors as a Regional Class A Driver and enhance your career by operating various heavy and light-duty trucks at our customer sites. Some of the vehicles you will operate include vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, and roll-offs. This position involves both driving and non-driving duties related to hazardous waste clean-up.

Key details:

• Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, with the option to be home on weekends.
• Start Time: Average start time at 6 am, typically working a 10-14 hour day.
• Travel Requirements: Must be able to obtain required identification to cross the Canadian border.
• Endorsements: Hazmat and Tanker endorsement must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prioritize health and safety by complying with all safe work practices and regulations.
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers in a team-oriented environment.
• Perform loading and unloading of vehicles with proper placarding to meet Company and DOT requirements.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, time sheets, and reports.
• Ensure adherence to all compliance regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
• Be available for on-call emergency response on a rotating schedule.
• Engage in site remediation, hazardous materials handling, and equipment decontamination as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a valid Class A CDL.
• Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsements within the first 90 days.
• Experience using various mobile devices.
• Capability to perform physical requirements of the job.
• Must successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical.
• Compliance with OSHA's respiratory protection standards regarding facial hair.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a commercial driver.
• Having Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
• Prior experience with hazardous materials.
• Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
• Experience with manual labor.

Your Responsibilities as a Driver Trainee:

• Skillfully maneuver the tractor to attach the trailer and secure lines.
• Operate the truck safely in accordance with all local, state, federal regulations and company policies.
• Conduct thorough inspections of the tractor-trailer equipment pre/post trip and complete the DOT inspection report.
• Utilize a Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to document delivery receipts and monitor product temperatures.
• Train alongside a Driver Trainer, learning commercial driving regulations and essential driving skills.
• Maintain accurate driver logs in compliance with DOT regulations, documenting necessary details.
• Assist the Driver in unloading the trailer and delivering products to customer locations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Fulfill eligibility criteria in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Complete training and earn your Class A CDL within six months or less.
• Willingness to handle loading/unloading and delivering all products ordered by McLane customers.
• Able to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to fulfill job functions.
• Comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading effectively.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations to verify product quantities.
• Communicate effectively with customers, management, and team members.
• Demonstrate safe driving skills, familiarity with equipment such as a dolly and ramps, and use of onboard PeopleNet devices.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English for effective job performance and safety compliance.

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure.
• Operates truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report indicating condition.
• Operates Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH), document delivery receipts/product temperatures and exceptions. Inspects trailer to ensure product is secure for undamaged transport of product.
• Rides and trains with Driver Trainer of tractor-trailer to various destinations, gaining knowledge of commercial driving regulations and observing the Driver's skill in starting engine properly, approaching intersections, making turns, backing, parking, and maneuvering vehicle on the road and on customer premises.
• Maintain driver log (Manual or PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, product temperatures and exceptions.
• Assists the Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product into customer premises.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
