The Village of Skokie, IL is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of full time Accounting Clerk in the Water Billing division of our busy and dynamic Finance Dept. Under direct supervision of the Revenue Manager, this position is responsible for performing various data entry and customer service functions for the Water Billing division, including cash receipt entry, issuing invoices, meter read uploads, work orders, answering account and billing questions, etc.; Creates, maintains, and schedules work order appointments for various utility functions including but not limited to water meter reads, water meter replacements, shutoff valve replacements, and leak detections; May be required to assist other Finance divisions with cash receipting, deposit creation/reconciliation, front counter staffing, switchboard functions, in person or telephone customer service, etc.; Performs other work-related duties, as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required; Minimum of two years’ experience in office environment, preferably in finance and/or utility billing; Previous accounting/clerical experience preferred, with a good understanding of accounting principles and accounts receivable concepts, especially with utility billing; Will consider any combination of education and experience, as outlined above; Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; Attention to detail is critical; Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality; Must be able to read and write English, bi-lingual skills helpful; Must exercise good judgement in all matters; Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite applications; Experience with BS&A municipal software a plus; Must be able to safely operate various office and computer equipment; Must follow all safety rules and regulations of the Village.
The hourly pay range for this position is $26.86 - $5.14. The starting pay range is $ 6.86 - 29.61, depending on qualifications. Specifically, the Accounting Clerk will:
Accounts Payable Responsibilities:
- Collect and file purchase orders, receiving documents and vendor invoices
- Prepare vendor invoices for data entry by matching to PO and receiving document
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between invoice, PO and receiving report
- Acquire appropriate approvals for invoices when necessary
- Data enter invoices into ERP (Syteline)
- Administer weekly and as needed payment of invoices via check/ACH
- Filing as applicable
Accounts Receivable Responsibilities:
- Collect remittances for daily incoming customer receipts
- Prepare daily bank deposits
- Data enter customer payments into ERP (Syteline)
- Determine customer credit limits
- Investigate and resolve past due customer invoices
- Review pending customer orders for shipment/credit hold
- Filing as applicable

Join our team as a Night Auditor at Janko Hospitality. Responsible for overseeing nightly hotel operations, you will ensure accurate guest billing, maintain financial records, and provide exceptional service during late-night hours. Serves as a Manager on Duty during the hours of 11pm to 7am. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and thrive in a dynamic hospitality environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Check in/out guests.
- Post charges and payments to guest accounts.
- Handle AYS duties.
- Reconcile all guest service agents' paperwork.
- Print and resolve rate discrepancies.
- Reconcile credit card totals to batch report and submit to credit card processor.
- Post room & tax.
- Print departing folios and distribute to guest rooms.
- Reconcile and balance all gift shop paperwork.
- Complete the spreadsheet for banquet event orders and post.
- Run close day on computer system and run back up.
- Separate night audit reports for accounting and management.

- Maintains the front desk log book to enhance the department communication, and communicates any problems to the next shift coming in and the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS

Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Services: Welcome guests during the overnight shift (typically 11 PM - 7 AM), assist with check-ins, reservations, and inquiries.
- Night Audit: Prepare and finalize Night Audit work, ensuring accurate daily transaction balancing.
- Security: Conduct security walks to ensure guest and property safety.
- Reporting: Prepare daily reports and the Daily Flash Report for management insights.
- Collaboration: Work with other departments for smooth operations and exceptional service.
What Were Looking For:
- Experience: 1 year in a hotel or related field. Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; college coursework beneficial.
- Skills: Proficient in Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing. Strong problem-solving skills and independence.

Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
- Balance and audit room revenue, food and beverage revenue and telephone revenue for accuracy; assist in the preparation of all reports relevant to daily revenues.
- Balance and audit all room tax charges, cashier reports, and guest house accounts for accuracy.
- Complete and transmit daily management/accounting reports with any supporting documentation ensuring the accurate accounting of the hotel revenues and expenses.
- Prepare General Manager daily, weekly and month end reporting packs.
- Assist in the set up the complimentary breakfast service to include hot and cold food service, juice and coffee stations, and all supplies.
- Assist in the washing, drying, and folding of hotel laundry.
- Act as the security point of contact during various times in the shift.
- Communicate with the Operations Manager to resolve accounting discrepancies and to request or provide information.
- Register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services, room location, and Travel Pass rewards program. Answer phones in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Accurately process all cash and credit card transactions in accordance with established procedures including but not limited to posting all charges, completing cashier and other reports, preparing deposit, and counting/ securing assigned bank.
- May routinely book guest reservations for individuals and/or groups that are requested either by phone or from within the hotel; process cancellations, revisions, and information updates on changes. Up-sell rooms where possible to maximize revenue.
- Follow the overall seasonal demand reservation strategy as communicated by the hotel management team with regard to room type and length of stay pricing.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
- Service the shoppe and the pour by ensuring guests receive the service and products offered by the hotel. Follow all local laws with regard to alcoholic beverage sales.
- Ensure guest special requests are fulfilled and proper delivery of guest services is delivered.
- Issue, control and release guest safe-deposit boxes.
- Comply with federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of previous hotel experience preferred.
- Previous background from the extended stay industry preferred.
- Reading and writing skills are utilized when compiling department records, guest registration and reservation information
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, and variances preferred.
- Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
- Carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently handling objects and equipment.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Will be required to obtain a ServSafe certification.
- May be required to obtain a TIPS certification.
- Will be required to work mornings, evening, weekends, and holidays.
