Job Description

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Assistant to the Chancellor. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Chancellor. The position will be located in Las Vegas, Nevada .

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions:  two universities, a state college, four community colleges and research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees.

The Executive Assistant to the Chancellor provides comprehensive administrative support to the Chancellor. The position ensures the effective execution of the Chancellor's priorities through advanced coordination, scheduling, document development, and stakeholder engagement. The role is central to the smooth functioning of the Chancellor's Office and its interface with internal and external constituencies.

SALARY GRADE:  :  This position offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with the candidate's education, experience, and certification/training. In addition to base salary, employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

APPROXIMATE STARTING DATE: November 1, 2025

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ABachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with five (5) years of progressive experience directly applicable to the position (or) a Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with three (3) years of related and progressive experience directly applicable to the position. Alternatively, ten (10) years of progressive experience directly applicable to the position may be substituted.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following areas of responsibility:

• Ensure the Chancellor's initiatives, directives, and tasks maintain progress forward.

• Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, track action items, and ensure timely follow-up.

• Proactively manage the Chancellor's calendar and briefing materials.

• Attend meetings as needed for minute recording and follow-up.

• Remind vice chancellors about deadlines for agenda items.

• Build agenda items and assist with the Chancellor's items to discuss with each team.

• Effectively time-manage projects and priorities to meet deadlines in an accurate and efficient manner.

• Coordinate with administrative support staff, vice chancellors, presidents, and presidents' assistants to coordinate progress and resolution to Chancellor and System priorities.

• Perceive and schedule all follow-up meetings and tasks in coordination with administrative support staff and presidents' assistants.

• Ensure the Chancellor has all necessary materials for efficient meeting preparations and participation.

• Take initiative in preparing the Chancellor for Quarterly and Special Board of Regents meetings by coordinating deadlines, tracking item submissions, compiling briefing materials, and ensuring the Chancellor is fully prepared for all agenda items.

• Work closely with the Board Office, institutional contacts, and internal staff to gather necessary documentation, anticipate questions or follow-ups, and support the Chancellor's effective participation in Board proceedings.

• Research action items from former meetings.

• Coordinate with administrative support staff to ensure details of meetings (i.e., attendees, purpose, location, agendas are timely provided in calendar and/or by email).

• Assist with the development of a variety of documents resulting from policy revisions, regent requests, periodic reports, governmental requests.

• Collect, interpret, analyze, and distribute data, policies, and reports as needed.

• Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and professionalism of documents.

• Analyze policies and procedures to assist with revisions and recommendations.

• Provide "gatekeeper" and "gateway" role, providing a bridge for smooth communication between the Chancellor and cabinet members, regents, presidents, external constituents, etc., demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust, and support with the leadership team.

• Anticipate, identify, and troubleshoot issues of concern or significance; exercise discretion to provide timely information and necessary updates across multiple stakeholders.

• Consult with and assist the Chancellor with any special projects required and perform other duties as assigned.

• Assign special projects and duties to administrative staff or others as needed.

Mission Technologies, a Division of HII, is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support a Modeling, Simulation, and Training team at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center - Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis, AFB, NV. The individual's primary responsibility would be leading a team of System Administrators that provide Linux System support to a team of engineers, Subject Matter Experts, and Pilots.
What You Will Do
Maintain continuous operation of multi-user computer systems to ensure effective support of missions and the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) is operating at optimal performance levels. This will include, but are not limited to:
+ Setting up administrator and user service accounts.
+ Installing system-wide software and allocate mass storage space.
+ Performing configuration management and troubleshooting of systems which may be physical or virtual/server based.
+ Optimize system operation and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
+ Aiding users in accessing and utilizing systems.
+ Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocations related to the use of available computing resources.
+ Maintaining security updates of operating system and software.
+ Maintaining system documentation.
+ Evaluating vendor products to inform mission partner of decisions
+ Work Environment: Position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.
What You Must Have
+ 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
+ Must have experience with LINUX system administration.
+ Must be capable of working morning and evening shifts to accommodate flexible schedule training operations.
+ Must have had an active Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain DoD TS/SCI and relevant SAP/SAR Clearance.
Preferred Requirements
+ Experience maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, highly desired.
+ Candidates with an active TS/SCI clearance, highly desired.
+ Certifications: Linux+ and Security+, desired.
+ Knowledge and/or experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides for the Department of Defense (DOD) information technology, desired.
+ Experience in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) preferably as a System Administrator, desired.
Physical Requirements
Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
