Job Description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) position for AdventHealth Gordon and AdventHealth Murray in Georgia.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the market Chief Executive Officer, the CMO represents the medical leadership for both hospitals-AdventHealth Gordon and AdventHealth Murray, their staff, patients, and the community. The performance of the CMO sets the stage and example for all aspects of the delivery of medical services.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resource Management Services:
+ The CMO will support the goals of resource management:
+ Identify and participate in resource management strategies to successfully achieve the length of stay and reduction in inappropriate use of hospital resources.
+ Analyze and interpret data to evaluate practice patterns and resource utilization of admitting physicians within targeted DRGs.
+ Work with the hospital's "Best Practice Team" to identify "best practices" parameters for physician performance within the hospital.
+ Lead and/or facilitate interdisciplinary resource management teams in an effort to improve resource consumption.
+ Assist medical staff to develop practice guidelines in response to utilization goals and resource consumption.
+ Coordinate medical staff compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) and Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) accreditation survey processes.
+ Function as a liaison between administration and the medical staff on medical administrative issues.
Medical Staff Education:
+ The CMO will participate with the hospital's co-Chief Medical Officer in the providing of education to the medical staff in support of the goals of the hospital as described but not limited to the following:
+ Develop and provide orientation regarding resource management, performance improvements, and practice patterns and data management to the medical staff.
+ Participate in communication to the medical staff of the physician profiling data.
+ Communicate best practice parameters to the medical staff through physician profiling data.
+ Serve as physician champion and assist in education of physicians regarding iConnect and other programs.
Clinical Informatics:
+ The CMO will support the goals of the Clinical Informatics Service (CIS) functions as a direct liaison to the medical staff and CIS staff through the following activities:
+ Participate in communication to the medical staff regarding physician Dashboard data. (CPOE, PowerPlan Usage, PowerNote Usage, etc.)
+ Communicate best practice parameters pertaining to Meaningful Use goals to the medical staff.
+ Perform Leapfrog testing annually coordinated by the Clinical Informatics Team and Performance Improvement team.
+ Serve as physician champion and assist in education of physicians regarding iConnect.
+ Serve as champion and liaison for all aspects of the compliant documentation program.
Peer Review:
+ The CMO shall support the peer review activities of the health care facility and/or the medical staff by performing the following:
+ Attend the Peer Review meetings conducted on a scheduled basis by the Director, Quality Management.
+ Serve as the Physician Peer Review representative for Medicine which includes reviewing medical records that are selected based on peer review indicators and/or indicators within the Gordon Hospital Reporting Policy and Sentinel Event Policy. Provide written documentation and feedback on selected medical records through the utilization of the Qual Care Peer Review database.
+ Review and analyze applicable Peer Review Indicator graphs and provide input for the Medical Executive Committee as requested.
+ Dialogue with medical staff members on applicable peer review cases in which an opportunity for improvement may exist to further improve the quality of care, treatment and/or services rendered.
+ Function as a liaison with the applicable physician involved in the Peer Review process and the AdventHealth Gordon Chief of Staff.
+ Serve as a consultant to the medical staff to assist in providing a further explanation of how the numerator and denominator within the credentialing profile is derived from Peer Review indicators.
Performance Improvement:
+ Attend the pre-planning Performance Improvement Committee meetings which are conducted on a scheduled basis by the Director of Quality Management.
+ Serve as the Performance Improvement Committee Chair and lead the Performance Improvement Committee scheduled meetings.
+ Provide a Performance Improvement update to the medical staff on an ongoing basis.
+ Function as a consultant for the medical staff as requested related to Performance Improvement Initiatives/Evidence Based Practice Service Line Team Development.
+ Assist/participate with the TJC Intra Cycle Monitoring process which is conducted on an annual basis to ensure that compliance is sustained to promote safe, quality services to customers across the continuum of care.
+ Coordinate medical staff compliance with TJC accreditation standards, as well as participate in the accreditation survey process.
+ Work with the Facility Best Practice Team to identify "best practice" parameters for physician performance within the organization.
Executive Responsibilities:
+ CMO will be invited to attend all meetings involving the Gordon Hospital Administrative Council (C-suite) and/or any meeting deemed appropriate by Gordon Hospital's CEO. Expected to participate in appropriate corporate committees and meetings.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIRED:
+ MD or DO
+ Licensed physician with clinical background (board certified while in clinical practice)
+ 5 years' experience with administrative responsibility in healthcare leadership
+ Active Georgia medical licensure
+ BLS
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE PREFERRED:
+ Experience on Medical Executive Committee
+ Experience in Clinic Practice Management

The role you'll contribute:
The Patient Care Advocate position is an outreach position for AdventHealth Medical Group to assess patients who need care for a variety of medical conditions that are identified by data analysis. Chart reviews will be undertaken to determine if patient meets criteria for outreach. Patients will be contacted and appropriate appointments made, lab or imaging studies ordered to facilitate the care of the patient. Contact with patient's primary care provider and staff will be required to ensure coordination of care. The Patient Care Advocate position will coordinate, assist, and implement quality improvement initiatives within Physician Enterprise. This may involve researching data, developing project plans, monitoring quality improvement activities, individual case review, serving as a resource and providing education to team members, providers, and practitioners. The clinical Patient Care Advocate will be involved in educating clinic staff and providers on Quality Measures and processes for satisfying the measures and provide support for ongoing development and maintenance of standards for performance and clinical outcomes. This role will help coordinate and implement a clinical competency program for all "non-provider" clinical staff in the ambulatory clinic settings.

+ Possess a strong attention to detail, a personal commitment to accuracy and excellence, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated organizational skills.
