As a Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer at Coinbase, you will play a pivotal role in building an open financial system. The team builds the foundational components for training and serving ML models at Coinbase. Our platform is used to combat fraud, personalize user experiences, and to analyze blockchains. We are a lean team, so you will get the opportunity to apply your software engineering skills across all aspects of building ML at scale, including stream processing, distributed training, and highly available online services.

What you'll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Form a deep understanding of our Machine Learning Engineers' needs and our current capabilities and gaps.

  • Mentor our talented junior engineers on how to build high quality software, and take their skills to the next level.

  • Continually raise our engineering standards to maintain high-availability and low-latency for our ML inference infrastructure that runs both predictive ML models and LLMs.

  • Optimize low latency streaming pipelines to give our ML models the freshest and highest quality data.

  • Evangelize state-of-the-art practices on building high-performance distributed training jobs that process large volumes of data.

  • Build tooling to observe the quality of data going into our models and to detect degradations impacting model performance.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 5+ yrs of industry experience as a Software Engineer.

  • You have a strong understanding of distributed systems.

  • You lead by example through high quality code and excellent communication skills.

  • You have a great sense of design, and can bring clarity to complex technical requirements.

  • You treat other engineers as a customer, and have an obsessive focus on delivering them a seamless experience.

  • You have a mastery of the fundamentals, such that you can quickly jump between many varied technologies and still operate at a high level.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience building ML models and working with ML systems.

  • Experience working on a platform team, and building developer tooling.

  • Experience with the technologies we use (Python, Golang, Ray, Tecton, Spark, Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, and DynamoDB).

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional team members to understand business needs and develop AI/ML solutions incorporating generative AI technologies.

  • Design scalable AI/ML systems, implement, and deploy GenAI applications including large language models, multimodal AI systems, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures for enterprise knowledge management and chatbot applications.

Job Summary

The Solutions Architect for Advanced Growth Technologies will be focused on Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure and Data Center Solutions. They will play a crucial role in designing and developing advanced technology solutions for our clients. This position requires expertise in AI infrastructure, integrated data center solutions, and a strong understanding of servers, storage, networking, and power and cooling systems. The Solutions Architect will collaborate with sales teams to identify new business opportunities, develop tailored solutions, and support the sales cycle from prospecting to onboarding.

The Solutions Architect at SHI International leads the development of Statements of Work (SOWs) in alignment with client needs and business objectives, driving revenue growth by optimizing service offerings and identifying new opportunities. This role involves collaborating with SHI stakeholder teams to create synergistic solutions, engaging with sales teams for unified service delivery, and contributing to practice development through innovation and maintaining high-quality standards. The Solutions Architect builds strong client relationships, provides thought leadership on technology trends, and oversees technology evaluations while staying current with new technologies and frameworks.

Role Description

  • Solution Design and Development: ?Collaborate with stakeholders to design solutions for AI infrastructure and data center environments, ensuring they meet business needs and industry best practices.

  • Technical Leadership: ?Provide guidance on architecture and integration of complex solutions, without direct involvement in implementation.

  • Statements of Work and Documentation: ?Create comprehensive Statements of Work (SOW) for implementation teams and develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOM) for the designed solutions.

  • Customer Engagement: ?Work closely with sales teams to profile and prospect for suitable accounts and opportunities, presenting solutions and value propositions to clients.

  • Documentation and Reporting: ?Produce detailed architectural documentation and technical specifications, and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Mentorship: ?Mentor junior engineering resources and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance solution delivery.

  • Lead the development of SOWs, working closely with various teams to ensure alignment with client needs and business objectives.

  • Drive revenue growth within the professional services team by identifying new opportunities and optimizing service offerings.

  • Collaborate with SHI Stakeholder partner teams to create synergistic service solutions.

  • Engage with SHI sales teams, including front line sellers and customer success managers, to ensure a unified approach to service delivery and client engagement.

  • Contribute to practice development by identifying areas for growth, leading innovation initiatives, and creating and maintaining practice standards to ensure high-quality service delivery.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $75,000 - 250,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
