**Responsibilities:**
+ Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities
+ Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem solving manner
+ Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles
+ Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience

Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking two Law Enforcement Captains - Boca Raton, FL.
The Law Enforcement Captain is responsible for the operations of the FAU Police Department and must meet the requirements as set forth in Chapter 943 Florida State Statutes. The Law Enforcement Captain commands the road patrol division in directing the law enforcement and public safety activities at FAU.
Responsibilities:
+ Ensures the Police Department is prepared to handle all types of emergencies and/or disasters.
+ Recognizes an armed offender and possesses the knowledge to prevent such violence by proper threat assessments and training.
+ Analyzes situations accurately, makes effective decisions/judgments under pressure and during emergency situations, and takes appropriate action.
+ Coordinates the department's involvement in special events held on all campuses.
+ Act as Incident Commander during critical emergency situations.
+ Possess the ability to develop strategic plans for the Police department that are consistent with the University's strategic plans.
+ Ensure that the department adheres to a community-oriented policing strategy that supports the department's mission with an emphasis on a positive/proactive approach that facilitates the overall mission of the University.
+ Lead, direct, supervise, motivate, and inspire others; evaluate and measure the performance of people, teams, and organizations; and assess performance and progress.
+ Builds morale and enhance the abilities of those supervised.
+ Supervise sworn and non-sworn personnel.
+ Resolve operational problems and situations as they occur. Initiate and support innovation and ideas with creativity, flexibility, responsiveness, and focus.
+ Possess comprehensive knowledge of and apply current Law Enforcement methods, policies, procedures, rules, regulations, laws, criminal investigative practices, techniques and procedures, modern community policing, and problem-solving philosophies; and make sound recommendations based on findings of investigations.
+ Effectively communicates information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the campus community, the surrounding communities, and the public.
+ Initiates, establishes, and fosters communication and teamwork through a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University.
+ Maintains dignity and self-control in managing a broad range of high-level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
+ Communicate with members of the University community for the purposes of improving Police service and improving department community communications.
+ Represent the department in various community activities and make public presentations to groups. Direct the Investigative division to work actively with other agencies to track crime trends and spikes outside the University.
+ Improves operations, decreases turnaround times, streamlines work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service.

We are a dynamic environment that requires days in the office. In office requirements, as amended from time to time, are an essential function of the position.
Under immediate supervision, develops proficiency through formal training and ongoing on the job experience. Performs routine assigned tasks from detailed instructions and established policies and procedures. Performs physical security functions, enforces Federal Reserve policies/regulations, and applicable federal laws to protect Bank staff and assets. Responds to incidents on Bank property and provides emergency services. This position is an essential function of the Bank and may require extended work hours and/or work during emergency or crisis situations.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintains designation required to operate as a law enforcement officer pursuant to the authority given the Board of Governors by Section 11 (q) of the Federal Reserve Act and the Uniform Regulations for Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officers. Meets minimum requirements of all department standards and training requirements
Develops, demonstrates and maintains proficiency in all aspects of key responsibilities such as: operating policies, weapons (lethal and non-lethal), physical security equipment, first aid and CPR, firefighting techniques, civil disorders, and public relations. Must exhibit spontaneous sound/reasonable judgment over life safety issues, the discrete handling of detected weapons and/or explosive devices and the proper handling of sensitive information and incidents.
Performs security and safety related duties. Patrols building/grounds and reports unusual situations or unauthorized individuals, responds to alarm conditions and provides emergency services. Monitors surveillance equipment, intercoms, telephones, radios, and other specialized equipment. Monitors Bank departments for safety or security violations and reports findings to department management. Prepares appropriate shift reports, incidents reports and other required paperwork as necessary.
Controls pedestrian and vehicle access to the facility through use of screening equipment to detect unauthorized items prior to entry to Bank property. Inspects vehicles entering security sensitive areas for unauthorized personnel or contents. Monitors and authorizes visitors accessing Bank facilities and records visitor data on appropriate logs.
On an as needed basis may conduct initial investigations into accidents and incidents, make proper notifications, and performs follow up duties as directed by supervisor. Could be needed to testify in court in response to a subpoena regarding accidents or incidents.
Develops proficiency in use of personal computer (PC) and related software necessary to perform job functions.
On an as needed basis may participate in special assignments to protect dignitaries of a Reserve Bank or the Board of Governors, this could include escorting visitors, contractors and/or vendors working in high security areas.
