SENIOR FIELD APPLICATION ENGINEER US

The Job

As a Senior Field Application Engineer (FAE) , you will provide critical support to the Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) in the Americas (AMAS region) . Using your technical expertise across the entire Septentrio portfolio, you will complement the commercial pre-sales process by guiding customers from product evaluation to system and OEM integration, ensuring the successful delivery of the final product. This support will be provided both remotely from the Septentrio Torrance office and on-site at customer locations.

You will act as the primary technical point of contact for the teams of key customers in your assigned region, building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will manage after-sales technical support cases in line with established processes. Furthermore, you will be responsible for training and mentoring other FAEs globally, ensuring they are well-prepared to effectively support customers.

Your Mission

As a Senior Field Application Engineer (FAE) , you will work closely with the Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) to support pre-sales activities, taking full ownership of the technical relationship with customers while the RSMs handle the commercial aspects. You will also collaborate with the Application and Support Group (ASG) and global FAE teams to resolve technical issues and provide accurate, up-to-date technical expertise.

Your responsibilities include on-site support for product evaluations, integration assistance, training, and performance testing, ensuring that Septentrio products deliver optimal solutions for customer needs. In addition, you will mentor and coach other FAEs globally and provide training to customers and distribution partners, ensuring they are fully equipped to utilize Septentrio technologies effectively.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of GNSS technologies and the integration of both hardware and software for GNSS products. You should have extensive experience testing GNSS products, analyzing results, and providing valuable feedback. You will also need to train both customers and internal teams on Septentrio products.

We are looking for someone with:

  • More than 5 years of experience as a technical GNSS end-user and/or application & electronics integrator. Knowledge of timing solutions, ROS, UAV autopilots, and electronics schematics is an asset.
  • MSc/BSc in Computer/Electrical/Industrial/Geomatics Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
  • A good understanding of GNSS in general and experience in testing and analyzing GNSS products, including competitors products.
  • Ability to train customers, distribution partners, and entry-level FAEs.
  • Strong communication skills, as you will be the first point of contact for key customers.
  • Customer-oriented and solution-focused, with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent level in English; Spanish and Portuguese are a plus.
  • Based at the Septentrio Torrance office, with the ability to travel to customers and exhibitions 20-30% of the time.

Due to the nature of some tasks, including visits to U.S. military bases, this position requires U.S. citizenship in compliance with applicable federal regulations.

Position Overview:

Xometry is seeking a driven and technically-minded Application Engineer, Injection Molding to join our team. In this role, you'll be a critical link between our customers, sales team, and engineering efforts, supporting a diverse range of industries including aerospace, defense, commercial, automotive, industrial, and medical devices. You'll leverage your expertise in injection molding to analyze customer requests, provide crucial design-for-manufacturing feedback, and help shape custom solutions that meet our clients' needs.
What You'll Do:

  • Analyze and Prepare RFQs: Retrieve and organize quote request information from various channels, including RFQ documents, 3D CAD files, and 2D drawings.
  • Customer Engagement: Proactively engage with customers to clarify requirements and address any discrepancies in documentation.
  • Technical Review and Quoting: Conduct thorough reviews of 3D models and 2D drawings to provide design-for-manufacturing (DFM) feedback and support the creation of accurate quotes using Xometry's internal systems and approved methodologies.
  • File Optimization: Perform basic file modifications and repairs using software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Magics to ensure manufacturability.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update quote databases in real-time to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Customer Support: Respond to service requests via ZenDesk and email, providing direct assistance or escalating to subject matter experts when necessary.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Applications Engineering and Sales to define and package custom requests for customer delivery.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher in a technology field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong interest and aptitude in technical tools, including experience with or a willingness to learn 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Magics) and 2D drawing review.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude to quickly grasp general technical aspects of various manufacturing technologies.
  • Customer-service oriented with excellent communication skills, capable of interacting politely and enthusiastically with both customers and coworkers.
  • Vocational training or direct experience in injection molding is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with die casting, stamping and metal extrusion is a plus.
