Aspirus Health Plan (AHP) in Wausau, WI is seeking an Accountant to join our team!
The Accountant maintains accounting policies, practices, and procedures for AHP. They are primarily responsible for the accounting entries that allow the accurate, complete and timely preparation of monthly and annual financial reports. They may assist in the review and coding of invoices to ensure timely and accurate payment to our vendors. They help with the preparation of documents, schedules and exhibits that are required for budgeting, forecasting, financial audits and compliance reporting. This position interacts with cross-functional groups throughout the organization both within and outside of Finance.
The Accountant may be involved in the timely and accurate completion of Statutory Filings following Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) accounting rules. Quarterly and annual filings are an essential requirement of AHP's business to ensure consistent reporting among insurers and to provide information to state regulators that allows them to determine a company's solvency.
HOURS: Full Time or 1.00 FTE, 80 hours every 2 weeks

Experience/Qualifications
- Knowledge of accounting standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area.
- Knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) is preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of three years financial management experience, in a healthcare setting is preferable if a there is not a Bachelor's Degree.
