The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for constructing/assembling mechanical parts and components to create new products according to client specifications, following blueprints and schematics to ensure correct build and quality. Additionally, this position performs diagnostic tests on assembled items and conducts adjustments when needed to make sure the final product functions efficiently and effectively.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Product Knowledge-

  • Basic understanding of all Jewett Automation services.
  • Basic knowledge of all Jewett Automation systems and processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical assembly department systems and processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical assembly tasks for custom automation machines, including but not limited to utilization of drawings, specifications, and power tools to complete assembly.
  • Complete knowledge of all Jewett Automation employee policies and procedures.

Operations-

  • Utilizing technical documentation (schematics, drawings, specifications, etc.), as well as hand tools (screwdrivers, soldering guns, drills, etc.), assemble, inspect, modify, and install (as required) mechanical components, framework, and tooling mechanisms, etc. that will be incorporated into machine assembly for clients.
    • Occasional mechanical rework of parts (cutting, grinding, drilling, tapping, etc.) may be required to complete assigned tasks.
    • Perform all assigned tasks in a limited amount of time while following quality limits and safety practices.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure products align with company and client standards.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment and/or components to determine proper operation or need for adjustments or replacement.
  • Maintain detailed records of a product’s development process, including but not limited to changes to construction documentation to reflect machine ‘as built.’
    • Utilize E-Plan, a necessary, to add notes/adjustments, etc. (re-line) to reflect any changes/additions, etc.
    • Alter/adjust as-built schematic drawings for mechanical changes and provide to engineering department for updates.
  • Collaborate with colleagues (technicians, engineers, etc.) to create cohesive and effective products.
    • Identify and suggest productivity and/or quality improvements to supervisors and/or engineers.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and quality of machinery, equipment, and tools.

  • Prepare work to be accomplished by reading and interpreting 2D and 3D drawings and models, reviewing bills of materials, gathering parts, tools, and materials

  • Assemble products to specification by following standard build procedures with the use of hand and power tools

  • Operate CNC bending equipment, welding equipment, and cleaning and etching machinery

  • Performance testing and quality checking of assembled tooling

Required Qualifications

AMF Bakery Systems is looking for a motivated and self-driven Electrical Assembly Technician (EAT). EAT's are responsible for building control panels, junction boxes and wiring of machines within the Assembly operation and must be able to work with and without the aid of drawings and/or schematics. Occasional mechanical rework of parts (cutting, grinding, drilling, tapping, etc. may be required to completed assigned task.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and follow verbal, written and drawn instructions
  • Assemble various electrical components to back panes and/or equipment
  • Wire components per given specifications
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a limited amount of time, within acceptable quality limits and while following safety practices.
  • Report assembly progress and suggest countermeasures to maintain or recover schedule.
  • Identify and suggest productivity and/or quality improvements to Supervisors and/or Engineers.
