**Your Opportunity**
Our Buildings team is looking for a Project Mechanical Engineer with a focus in HVAC design. You will work with direct supervision and general direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. You will assist in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) building systems for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit modeling, preparing design drawings, performing system calculations, ductwork design, piping design, specifying equipment, field survey work, and construction administration.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
+ Work with a team of design colleagues to conceptualize and develop full documentation for new construction and renovation projects for multiple types of facilities such as: healthcare, industrial, commercial offices, higher education, research laboratories or similar applications.
+ Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer mechanical HVAC systems for a project.
+ Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
+ Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in development of three-dimensional models of building's mechanical systems.
+ Prepare and revise documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
+ Participate in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
+ Participate in client contact on projects to establish design criteria, review design progress as well as providing support through construction administration.
+ Support the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
+ Work on multiple projects.
+ Conduct field surveys of existing conditions of building spaces.
+ Prepare field reports and punch lists.
+ Provide basic mentoring to junior staff. "

+ Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of mechanical codes, energy codes, NFPA codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes.
+ Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
+ Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
+ Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software (IESVE for HVAC, Trane Trace, and/or HAP).
+ Demonstrates technical writing ability to author a discipline specific Basis of Design.
+ Development of project job specific discipline specifications independently from a company master specification.
+ Thorough understanding of HVAC concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
+ Experience in the construction industry and/or in-depth knowledge of construction processes.
+ Ability to integrate design elements with architects and other building engineers.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
+ Ability to take direction, follow process, and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior Engineers.
+ Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
+ Requires a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with Newforma and COMcheck.
**Education and Experience**
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the buildings design industry. Preferred candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer or is currently working toward professional licensure. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred. Your key responsibilities will be:
- Design for electrical power distribution (medium/low voltage) systems, grounding systems, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, communication systems, etc. with a main focus on the industrial market segment.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of industry codes and standards, and develop code analysis reports. Preferred code knowledge includes NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE Standards, energy code, and building code. Familiarity with utility standards preferred.
- Serve as a technical lead electrical engineer and lead a team of electrical designers, electrical engineers, and coordinate the work into the final design deliverables.
- Serve as a mentor, developing the technical skills of others.
- Act as the client interface representing the electrical discipline and lead other disciplines during a design program. Act as the project manager on small to mid-scale electrical projects.
- This includes the ability to interact with the client at the request for proposal stage, develop letter proposals and fee estimates, prepare and deliver presentations to the client, and act as the Ramboll representative throughout project duration.
