Position:
The Needham Public Schools seeks outstanding applicants for the position of District School Nurse. This is a part-time, Unit A position, rotating between district schools. Hours will be according to the school assignment.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include: providing nursing services and school health support in the schools, as determined and assigned by the Director of School Health Services. Nursing services include but are not limited to: implementing mandatory health screenings, implementing food allergy protocols and health policies, health services programming, and immunization compliance. The nurse will provide direct clinical nursing services as needed in school health offices or for field trips/ special school activities and will perform health data computer entry, medication management, and general health information management.

- The qualified candidates hold current certification for CPR- AED as a Health Care Provider per the American Heart Association.
- The candidate has worked as a registered nurse in school health, child health, community health, or relevant pediatric/adolescent clinical care setting.
- The candidate can assume the full scope of responsibilities of the school nurse position.
- The candidate must be knowledgeable of the pertinent regulations governing school nursing practice in Massachusetts, the guidelines and standards of care established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), as applicable to the policies and procedures established by the Needham Public Schools (NPS).
License:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current certification for CPR and AED as a healthcare provider
- Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure as a school nurse (Preferred) or eligibility for DESE school nurse licensure
