The Position Highway Maintenance Workers are certified by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to operate a variety of complex or specialized highway maintenance and construction equipment in order to restore and maintain the integrity of roadway surfaces; maintain roadside slopes, shoulders, culverts and ditches to restore drainage and prevent erosion; and repair or replace related roadway appurtenances such as guardrails, markers, guide posts and fences. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. These positions are located in Carson City, Spooner, Gardnerville/Kingsbury, Nevada and are used to maintain Nevada roads during the winter season. Incumbent is responsible for performing routine maintenance, including keeping pavement surface, shoulders, clear zones, and associated roadways in good repair; winter maintenance, including snowplow operation and anti-icing activities; and assistance in emergency operations. The hours for these positions are subject to change depending on the needs of the appointing authority and may be five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts. • Perform store sweeps, with emphasis on front-end and entrance areas; ensuring floors are free of spills or debris, to provide a safe environment for customers as well as co-workers.
• Routine and daily cleaning of registers and belts, emptying check stand trash cans, dusting and facing shelves.
• Collect all shopping carts from the parking lot, maintaining a cart-free lot throughout the duration of your shift.
• Perform price checks, and assist with go backs returning items to correct location, with perishables being the first priority.
• Assisting Clerks to move lines quickly at busy times by bagging groceries quickly and efficiently, taking care to protect quality and condition of items.
