Cheshire Medical Center, a member of the Dartmouth Health system, is seeking a dynamic and collaborative physician leader to serve asDepartment Chief of Anesthesiology. This is a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team of clinicians and staff while maintaining an active clinical practice and shaping the future of care delivery in our vibrant, community-focused hospital.
As Department Chief, you’ll guide strategic direction, support provider development, and foster a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Chair of Surgical Services and administrative leadership, you'll ensure alignment with institutional goals while advancing clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and patient-centered care.
Position Summary
* Maintain an active practice and serve as a clinical role model, ensuring expert, compassionate, and cost-effective care across all anesthesia services
* Set strategic goals for the department and lead efforts to improve patient outcomes, enhance safety protocols, and streamline perioperative workflows
* Oversee quality assurance and improvement initiatives, monitor clinical performance, and ensure compliance with institutional standards and regulatory requirements
* Meet regularly with department providers to support their clinical growth, career advancement, and wellness
* Collaborate with administrative leaders to optimize staffing models, OR scheduling, and patient flow—balancing service demands with resource stewardship
* Participate in budget planning, monitor department finances, and work to enhance revenue integrity through accurate documentation, billing, and coding practices
* Contribute to provider recruitment, retention, onboarding, and succession planning, ensuring the department is well-positioned for future success
* Build strong relationships with surgical colleagues and community partners, supporting system-wide alignment and regional service goals
About the Practice
* Our anesthesiology team supports a broad and balanced surgical case mix in a collaborative, independent model.
* 5 operating rooms and 3 endoscopy suites running daily
* Case mix includes general surgery, orthopedics and joint replacement, OB/GYN, urology, ENT, podiatry, and more
* No neurosurgery, spine, cardiac, or thoracic cases
* Independent practice model—clinicians do their own cases daily
* Approximately 400 deliveries annually

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene / Cheshire Medical Center is currently seeking a Medical Director to lead and help build our Acute Care Psychiatric Services at our collegial and community-centered practices located in beautiful Keene, New Hampshire.
In this role, serving as Medical Director of Acute Care Psychiatric Services, you will work with the Chair of Psychiatry to build our acute care psychiatry services. You will provide psychiatric consultations to the ED and inpatient medical units and provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management services at Cheshire Medical Center’s Doorway Department, which launched its Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) program in September 2020. You will work in coordination with the Doorway team and provide MAT psychiatric services to patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health issues. Collaborating with an RN and clinical team, you will coordinate client care and assist with insurance pre-authorization, referrals, and caseload management. In addition, you will supervise psychiatric advanced practice providers in these areas.
