  • Collects data accurately and sees that all information is transferred to patient chart correctly.
  • Prepares examination and treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Ensures instruments are clean and sterilized.
  • Hands instruments and materials to provider and assists with minor office procedures as directed by provider.
  • Calls medical facilities or departments to schedule outpatient testing or procedures for admission.
  • Handles pre-certification for admissions and/or procedures or coordinates with pre- certification coordinator.
  • Returns patient calls and places prescription refill calls under the direction of provider of care.
  • Performs EKG's, venipuncture and various in-house laboratory procedures. Acts as a phlebotomist as needed following standard procedures. Completes proper requisition for laboratory processing and charge billing.
  • Recognizes abnormal results upon review of lab and test results. Interacts with provider regarding patient education and follow up regarding results.
  • Assists with health education on the patient's level of understanding.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with Galen clinical policies and OSHA standards.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that adequate supplies are maintained at location at all times.
  • Maintains clean and neat work area.
  • Make recommendations for any improvements in operation of the clinical systems.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Assist other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

**Your responsibilities will include:**
+ Assisting with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort to support smooth procedures and recovery
+ Providing non-medicated care like dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices
+ Keeping patient areas, operating rooms, and common spaces clean, organized, and stocked to maintain safety and efficiency
+ Managing supplies, equipment, and environmental logs to keep the team ready and protect patients through infection control
+ Communicating kindly with patients, families, and the care team while promoting safety and quality efforts
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Parkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility in East Ridge. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services. These services include orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department. This ED is recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures. We also hold a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specialized providers in the NICU include neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists. These staff are on site at all times. Visit us for excellent general and OB care!

**Job Summary and Responsibilities**
The Patient Care Tech is a multi-skilled, non-licensed health care provider who provides direct patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. Applies knowledge of growth and development to perform detailed assignments/interventions. Provides consistent care based on the changing physical and psychosocial needs, unique to the patient.
Responsibilities of the Patient Care Tech include but are not limited to the following:
+ Operate the following equipment: Computer, automated vital sign machines with recognitions of abnormal vital signs and timely reporting, O2 saturation, glucose meter, intercom, telephone, patient care equipment required for daily care, scales and lifts
+ Basic EKG form monitoring and operation of machine and the recognition of life-threatening dysrhythmias/subsequent care, if required by area/ location
+ Perform nursing care and duties delegated by Registered nurses
+ Venipuncture, discontinuing INT's
+ Perform 12 lead EKG, based on area/ location
+ Good telephone and communication skills
+ Excellent customer service skills
+ Ability to adapt to changes in health care technology.
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills
+ May enter the secured supply rooms to deliver or access supplies, equipment necessary to carry out the core functions of their job (oxygen, thermometers, etc.)
**Job Requirements**
PCT I:
Students ages 16 and 17 can be employed with parental consent as part of High School Health Career Program, High School graduate or equivalent.
BLS within 30 days of hire
PCT II:
Students ages 16 and 17 can be employed with parental consent as part of High School Health Career Program, High School graduate or equivalent.
Certified Nursing Assistant program graduate with current TN license, Certified Patient Care Technician or certified Medical Assistant with active certification
Certified Nursing Assistant with current TN license, Certified Patient Care Technician or Certified Medical Assistant with active certification
