Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Cloud & Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, governance, and implementation of enterprise-grade cloud platforms and infrastructure modernization initiatives. This role is pivotal in driving IT platform enablement and ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions across the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in multi-cloud and hybrid environments, with a strong command of infrastructure architecture, networking, identity and access management (IAM), and platform governance. Success in this role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including application development, data architecture, and platform engineering, to deliver integrated and future-ready technology solutions.

This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule with the expectation of 3 days per week in our Chicago office, and 2 days remote from home.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Platform & Identity Architecture

• Serve as Tenant Architect and Administrator Microsoft Platforms (Power Platform, Fabric, Purview, M365, Azure, and Environment Administrator), Oracle OCI, integration with these across other SaaS and ERP solutions.

• Coordinate with vendors and key stakeholders to track financial assessments and project proposals for S&L Technologies, ensuring alignment with S&L's business requirements and strategic goals.

• Lead the Okta to Entra ID migration, including conditional access policy design, MFA enforcement, and identity lifecycle management.

• Provide guidance Application/Data Architects and Technical owners on the Cloud, Hybrid Infrastructure, and Platforms for their workloads.

• Assess workload migration to Oracle OCI, document implementation plan for S&L Infrastructure team.

Cloud Governance & Multi-Cloud Standards

• Define and implement Azure subscription and resource governance, including naming conventions, tagging strategies, RBAC, policy enforcement, and cost management. Work with Governance body for governance policy and implementation.

• Document and align cloud architecture standards across Azure, AWS, Oracle OCI, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to ensure consistency and compliance as workloads are created on these platforms.

• Establish and maintain landing zones, management groups, and blueprints for secure and scalable cloud adoption.

Data Platform Enablement

• Collaborate with Data Architects to define standards and implement architectures for Databricks, Snowflake, Informatica, and other data platforms.

• Ensure secure data access, integration pipelines, and platform scalability for analytics and AI/ML workloads.

• Support data governance, lineage, and metadata management initiatives.

Infrastructure Modernization

• Lead re-platforming efforts from On-Prem or other cloud-native workloads to centralized solutions.

• Design hybrid infrastructure strategies that support legacy workloads while enabling cloud-native transformation.

• Evaluate and implement automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, and Ansible.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or platform administration.

• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Azure AD/Entra ID, AVD, and governance frameworks.

• Hands-on experience with Okta, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and Microsoft 365 administration.

• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, and Oracle OCI cloud services and governance models.

• Experience with data platform integration (Fabric, Purview, Databricks, Snowflake, Informatica).

• Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.

• Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, IoC).

Preferred Certifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional

• Okta Certified Administrator or equivalent Entra ID expertise

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

• TOGAF or other enterprise architecture frameworks (a plus)

As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer on our Technology Services Team, you will play a key role in the design, planning, and execution of projects related to GUARD's server, storage, backup, and virtualization environments in the cloud.  An ideal candidate should be able to understand and implement public cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions, as well as analyze and resolve complex issues related to these areas. Monitor system performance and capacity and provide proactive remediation. Provide cloud services estimates and identify trends and opportunities for process and technology advancements to critical Infrastructure. Act as a technical escalation point for team members. We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to work out of one of these locations: Corporate Office in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Parsippany, NJ, Chicago, IL, Alpharetta, GA, or Dallas-Fort Worth, TX.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and participate in Azure cloud infrastructure projects.

Salary Range

Responsibilities As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer on our Technology Services Team, you will play a key role in the design, planning, and execution of projects related to GUARD's server, storage, backup, and virtualization environments in the cloud. An ideal candidate should be able to understand and implement public cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions, as well as analyze and resolve complex issues related to these areas. Monitor system performance and capacity and provide proactive remediation. Provide cloud services estimates and identify trends and opportunities for process and technology advancements to critical Infrastructure. Act as a technical escalation point for team members. We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to work out of one of these locations: Corporate Office in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Parsippany, NJ, Chicago, IL, Alpharetta, GA, or Dallas-Fort Worth, TX. Responsibilities: Lead and participate in Azure cloud infrastructure projects. Design and implement infrastructure technical solutions that exhibit high levels of performance, security and scalability, while keeping any risks/impacts to the business in mind. Develop and implement complex cloud environments, focusing on infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, ARM templates, BluePrint. Experience with Azure DevOps or Github Actions. Create, manage, and understand Azure resources such as app gateways, load balancers, storage accounts, Azure Files, app services, NSGs, virtual desktops/pools, backup/polices, Site Recovery, Azure Backup, etc. Deliver technical leadership in the engineering and architecture of GUARD's server, storage, and cloud infrastructure. Guide IT Administrators to ensure proper execution of project designs and ongoing conformity to policy. Ensures infrastructure meets compliance and security standards through audits and tools like Azure Policy. Ensures disaster recovery / backup solutions are operational, maintained and meeting the business needs. Ability to diagnose and resolve cloud infrastructure related problems. Document systems, processes, and/or procedures. Ability to respond to and investigate security alerts. Track industry trends and maintain knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprises architecture needs. Demonstrated experience in balancing multiple priorities and managing a variety of projects with strong attention to detail. Ability to mentor and knowledge share as needed to team members and peers. Availability after hours for critical systems maintenanceissues. Participation in On-Call rotation. Salary Range $70,000.00-$20,000.00 USD The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required. The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training. Qualifications 5+ years of public cloud (Azure) engineering experience. Solid understanding and experience with Infrastructure as Code. Primary focus on security across all areas of responsibility. Deep understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server 2016-2022. Experience with Entra ID, Defender for Cloud, and compliance. Hands on administrative experience with SIEM technologies Knowledge of networking and an understanding of traffic flow, subnets, TCP/UDP, and IP communication. Familiarity with cloud backup and disaster recovery methodologies. IT service delivery mindset with a friendly and positive attitude. Excellent communication skills with an ability to articulate complex information in an easy to understand manner. • Own the architecture and enforcement of network security and network management across AWS and hybrid environments - ensuring our infrastructure is both resilient and secure.
• Define, measure, and optimize SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs that align reliability efforts directly with business impact.
• Build and refine automated incident response, runbooks, and proactive monitoring to minimize downtime and accelerate recovery.
• Collaborate closely with software engineering, product, and security teams to integrate reliability and security into the development lifecycle from day one.
• Influence capacity planning, cost optimization, and cloud strategy to support aggressive growth and innovation.
• Indirect Supervision to lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing SRE and DevOps team committed to operational excellence
• Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.

• Experience leading and implementing GitOps workflows with tools like Argo CD.

• Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• One or more of AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes Administrator certifications
• Proficient in designing and maintaining observability solutions using Datadog or comparable platforms.
