Job Description
McDonald's Global IT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Computing Senior Manager to lead our cloud infrastructure and DevOps initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in cloud technologies, automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices. This role will be pivotal in driving the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of our cloud-based systems.
This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald's works. We provide outstanding foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. The role reports to the Director of Cloud DevOps and is responsible for supporting, migrating, automation and optimization of software development and deployment process specifically for Google Cloud. The Cloud Computing Senior Manager will work closely with software developers, cloud architects, operations engineers, and other partners to ensure that the software delivery process is efficient, secure, and scalable. You will support the Corporate, Cloud Security, Cloud Platform, Digital, Data, Restaurant, and Market application and product teams by efficiently and optimally delivering DevOps standards and services.

Duties
+ Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Provide technical advice and support growth for team members.
+ Manager: Oversee the daily operations of the team, ensuring tasks are assigned appropriately and deadlines are met. Develop and manage work plans, assigning tasks based on team members' strengths and project requirements, and ensuring balanced workloads.
+ Cloud Strategy: Develop and implement cloud strategies that align with business goals, ensuring optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency. Participate in the management, design, and solutioning of platform deployment and operational processes.
+ Reference Guide: Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for all cloud technical hands-on questions pertaining infrastructure, security and application services.
+ Automation: Design and implement automation frameworks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment.
+ CI/CD: Supervise the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless integration and delivery of software updates.
+ Monitoring & Optimization: Implement monitoring tools and practices to proactively determine and resolve performance issues, optimizing cloud resources.
+ Security: Make sure strong security measures are in place, including following industry standards.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with multi-functional teams, including software development, operations, and security, to ensure cohesive and efficient workflows. Respond to platform and operational incidents and effectively resolve issues
+ Vendor Management: Maintain relationships with cloud service providers and other third-party vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
+ Reporting: Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership on cloud operations, performance metrics, and critical initiatives.
Qualifications
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
+ Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud computing and DevOps, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. Self-starter, able to come up with solutions to problems and complete those solutions while coordinating with other teams.
+ Technical Skills: Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins). 5+ years GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Helm Charts, Harness and Artifactory or similar DevOps CI/CD tools.
+ Leadership Skills: Demonstrable ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
+ Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical partners.
+ Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
+ Certifications: Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer are a plus.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Cloud & Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, governance, and implementation of enterprise-grade cloud platforms and infrastructure modernization initiatives. This role is pivotal in driving IT platform enablement and ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions across the organization.
The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in multi-cloud and hybrid environments, with a strong command of infrastructure architecture, networking, identity and access management (IAM), and platform governance. Success in this role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including application development, data architecture, and platform engineering, to deliver integrated and future-ready technology solutions.
This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule with the expectation of 3 days per week in our Chicago office, and 2 days remote from home.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Platform & Identity Architecture
+ Serve as Tenant Architect and Administrator Microsoft Platforms (Power Platform, Fabric, Purview, M365, Azure, and Environment Administrator), Oracle OCI, integration with these across other SaaS and ERP solutions.
+ Coordinate with vendors and key stakeholders to track financial assessments and project proposals for S&L Technologies, ensuring alignment with S&L's business requirements and strategic goals.
+ Lead the Okta to Entra ID migration, including conditional access policy design, MFA enforcement, and identity lifecycle management.
+ Provide guidance Application/Data Architects and Technical owners on the Cloud, Hybrid Infrastructure, and Platforms for their workloads.
+ Assess workload migration to Oracle OCI, document implementation plan for S&L Infrastructure team.
Cloud Governance & Multi-Cloud Standards
+ Define and implement Azure subscription and resource governance, including naming conventions, tagging strategies, RBAC, policy enforcement, and cost management. Work with Governance body for governance policy and implementation.
+ Document and align cloud architecture standards across Azure, AWS, Oracle OCI, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to ensure consistency and compliance as workloads are created on these platforms.
+ Establish and maintain landing zones, management groups, and blueprints for secure and scalable cloud adoption.
Data Platform Enablement
+ Collaborate with Data Architects to define standards and implement architectures for Databricks, Snowflake, Informatica, and other data platforms.
+ Ensure secure data access, integration pipelines, and platform scalability for analytics and AI/ML workloads.
+ Support data governance, lineage, and metadata management initiatives.
Infrastructure Modernization
+ Lead re-platforming efforts from On-Prem or other cloud-native workloads to centralized solutions.
+ Design hybrid infrastructure strategies that support legacy workloads while enabling cloud-native transformation.
+ Evaluate and implement automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, and Ansible.
Qualifications
+ 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or platform administration.
+ Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Azure AD/Entra ID, AVD, and governance frameworks.
+ Hands-on experience with Okta, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and Microsoft 365 administration.
+ Familiarity with AWS, GCP, and Oracle OCI cloud services and governance models.
+ Experience with data platform integration (Fabric, Purview, Databricks, Snowflake, Informatica).
+ Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
+ Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, IoC).

- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes Administrator) are highly desirable.
- 10+ years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Software Development, Cloud Infrastructure Architecture, or related fields, with a strong track record of leading and delivering complex, large-scale projects.
- Prior leadership or mentorship experience, driving team growth, technical excellence, and collaborative culture.
- Up to around 5% travel time
- Proven expertise in architecting and managing cloud-native infrastructure, particularly on AWS.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and scripting languages including PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Experience leading and implementing GitOps workflows with tools like Argo CD.
- Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- One or more of AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes Administrator certifications
- Proficient in designing and maintaining observability solutions using Datadog or comparable platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of network security, VPC design, firewall management, and secure connectivity.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and incident management abilities, coupled with strong communication skills.
- Passion for mentoring teams and fostering a culture of innovation, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Experience with global and distributed cloud-based IoT platforms and devices.
- Deep expertise in Terraform and other IaC frameworks with proven production experience.
- Mastery of Kubernetes architecture, deployment, and GitOps automation using Argo CD or equivalent.
- Strong programming and automation skills in PowerShell, Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
The pay range/rate of pay for this position is $123,600 - $216,150; base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. In addition to base pay, also offered is a comprehensive benefits package and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). This position is eligible for participation in a short-term incentive plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
