Allied Universal® is hiring a Field Supervisor. The Field Supervisor supports operations for remotely managed accounts by performing on-site supervision of Security Professionals (SPs) and ensuring site coverage at all times. The Field Supervisor works closely with Operations Managers on a day-to-day basis to supervise remote service delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visit assigned post locations on a regular basis (specific schedule varies) to monitor performance, address daily operations issues, communicate policy changes or company information, adjust staffing schedules as needed, and make post inspections to ensure professional image (including the hygiene and uniform appropriateness of officers) and quality standards are being maintained; post inspections also include checking that Post Order manual and all other post and training information is being properly maintained and updated, and that the Post is being properly maintained, cleaned and organized
  • Conduct on-the-job training, in coordination with site supervision, of new employees assigned to post, or when changes to post orders are made, this may include to the post, review of post orders, routine responsibilities, and how to respond to emergency situations or specific client needs
  • Respond to call-offs that occur during their shift, which may include identifying other individuals to fill-in and/or standing post until such replacements arrive and also assist Scheduler with scheduling for call-offs or other changes that occur at the site
  • Identify any personnel problems occurring at posts, such as payroll issues, employee relations complaints or other concerns, and forward any such issues to Operations Manager and/or Corporate Human Resources Director; may also be responsible for writing a report of the situation or assisting with an investigation, as directed
  • May be responsible for administering counseling or disciplinary actions that have been initiated by Branch Manager and/or Corporate HR Director; Field Supervisor may not make or initiate such decisions on his/her own, but may execute such actions at the specific direction of Branch/Corporate Human Resources management
  • Distribute information to posts as directed by Branch or Corporate office, which may include communicating such information to Security Officers at posts and/or obtaining signed acknowledgements or other documents, and returning such documents to Branch or Corporate office
  • Respond to client or site emergencies as they arise, including ensuring appropriate communication to Operations and/or Branch Manager

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
  • Valid Driver's License with at least one year of driving experience and:
    • No major violations within last 36 months
    • No more than one at-fault accident in last 24 months
    • No more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months)
    • No combination of one at-fault accident and one minor moving violation in last 24 months
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional protective service (e.g., security) experience
  • Ability to write effective and concise reports in legible handwriting
  • Able to use good independent judgment and discretion
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including clients
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • Experience in scheduling, operations management, or other leadership functions of security industry
  • Prior experience in the security industry, law enforcement, and/or military
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

General Summary

This position is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for both private and public sector works projects from $50 to $00 million to ensure Granite is a responsive bidder. Projects include structures, sound barriers and bridges, as well as underground work such as waterlines, sewer lines, storm drains, and dry utilities. This role will support a region that covers the Inland Empire, High Desert, and Coachella Valley and specializes in highways, roads, rail, infrastructure, utilities and small buildings.

Essential Job Accountabilities
  • Comprehend and administer a safety program that provides for a safe work environment that meets or exceeds Granite's Annual Incident Goal, and foster a culture that expects participation at all levels.
  • Create and promote, in his/her organization, the ability to recognize and understand the appropriate environmental policies, rules, and the potential adverse affects to the environment due to operations, and take steps necessary to comply with policy/rules, and mitigate the effects of operations.

  • Develop and maintain business relationships to increase bid opportunities in the regional market.

  • Participate in and/or lead Design-build preconstruction services to ensure a high quality, competitive estimates and schedules.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience.
Work Experience
  • 10+ years estimating experience including heavy civil structures, sound barriers and bridges, as well as underground work such as waterlines, sewer lines, storm drains, and dry utilities.
  • Prior management experience required.

General Summary

This position is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for both private and public sector works projects from $50 to $00 million to ensure Granite is a responsive bidder. Projects include structures, sound barriers and bridges, as well as underground work such as waterlines, sewer lines, storm drains, and dry utilities. This role will support a region that covers the Inland Empire, High Desert, and Coachella Valley and specializes in highways, roads, rail, infrastructure, utilities and small buildings.

Essential Job Accountabilities
  • Comprehend and administer a safety program that provides for a safe work environment that meets or exceeds Granite's Annual Incident Goal, and foster a culture that expects participation at all levels.
  • Create and promote, in his/her organization, the ability to recognize and understand the appropriate environmental policies, rules, and the potential adverse affects to the environment due to operations, and take steps necessary to comply with policy/rules, and mitigate the effects of operations.
  • Create and/or foster a quality culture that recognizes the affect of quality on all operations, and takes steps necessary to provide a product or service that is a source of pride for our workers, and pleasing to our customers.
  • Analyze and compile estimate data that impact the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location and other factors to ensure a high quality and timely estimate.
  • Review drawings, specifications and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate.
  • Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase competitiveness of the bid.
  • Review "take-off" quantities to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates.
  • Utilize existing cost history as a check to complete estimate.
  • Apply mathematical calculations requiring advanced analytical processes to ensure logically estimated costs are accurate.
  • Present estimate and participate in bid reviews with senior management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate with owners, subcontractors, public and private entities to ensure competitiveness.
  • Communicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure understanding of scope of job and critical means and methods of construction.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships to increase bid opportunities in the regional market.
  • Supervise, direct, and mentor estimating staff to ensure individual development and Granite standards are met.
  • Participate in and/or lead Design-build preconstruction services to ensure a high quality, competitive estimates and schedules.
  • Participate in and/or lead means and method discussions, being the catalyst to drive creative thinking and innovative ideas that distinguishes a successful estimate.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience.
Work Experience
  • 10+ years estimating experience including heavy civil structures, sound barriers and bridges, as well as underground work such as waterlines, sewer lines, storm drains, and dry utilities.
  • Prior management experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), AGTEK Take-off and Primavera P6 or other scheduling software.
  • Advanced knowledge of HCSS HeavyBid estimating software.
  • Advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction principles and equipment capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of agency DBE requirements.

Desert Elite Electric and Construction is one of Coachella Valley's premier electrical services providers and are not only growing electrical, but we are also growing in our construction projects and underground utilities projects. We serve all the valley and some points beyond in electrical, construction, and underground utilities services. That growth requires a construction estimator with solid experience with estimating within the construction environment and proficient in the software tools of the trade. We are based in Indio and the right candidate would ideally be in commutable distance to there.

Summary

Reporting to the general manager, the construction estimator works closely with many other professionals including consultants, contractors, accountants, and operations personnel to provide the most accurate and comprehensive financial and budget analysis for their employers. Additionally, the estimator is responsible for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors like labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential setbacks. Their duties include communicating with personnel and contractual professionals or vendors, using computer software to weigh production risks or compile reports and making presentations to project leaders outlining their suggestions for upcoming projects.

Description

Analyzes required documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project

Determines what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product

Prepares material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service

Creates labor estimates for any project

Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors, subcontractors, and clientele

Manage bids from vendors and contractors

Use bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis

Present prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders

Compile and record actual costs

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of construction estimating (all facets) experience.

Must have new ground-up construction estimating experience.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple estimate projects simultaneously.

A strong analytical thought process and a keen attention to detail.

Must be a self-starter with a collaborative spirit.

Proficient in MS Office applications

Proficient in the use of Planswift

Proficiency in EBM a plus
