CPA Licensing Compliance is seeking an Assistant Director to support and manage the various requirements surrounding CPA compliance. The Assistant Director will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with CPA licensing requirements, leveraging a strong background in accountancy, preferably with experience at a State Board of Accountancy, NASBA, or within a CPA practice. This role will involve providing complex consultations, conducting in-depth reviews of state board rules and regulations, and fostering increased interactions with ECRM, Service Line Quality (SLQLs) and Talent Leaders. This position will interact with executive level personnel.
**Your key responsibilities**
+ Provide complex consultations regarding CPA licensing processes, requirements, and best practices.
+ Conduct thorough reviews of state board rules and regulations to ensure alignment with current practices and policies
+ Monitor trends and changes in regulations impacting CPA licensing and advise on necessary adjustments.
+ Collaborate with Service Line leaders and Talent Leaders to enhance understanding of services related to licensure requirements.
+ Prepare and present reports on regulatory changes to leadership.
+ Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing.
+ Participate in meetings with area leadership, general counsel's office ("GCO"), and risk management.
+ Propose suggestions for improvement, leveraging experience and existing ECRM processes.
+ Facilitate the process to completion by following up on requests and assisting EY personnel with certification/licensing questions.
+ Perform internal and external research to assist with compliance recommendations.
+ Proactively notify appropriate EY individuals of identified issues with quality, confidentiality, or risk.
+ Solve complex problems, partnering with professionals to remediate certification or licensing issues.
+ Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders and independently answer complex questions from clients.
+ Document work processes and findings in appropriate work programs.
+ Build and leverage a network of contacts within Ethics & Compliance and across the firm

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, etc.)

  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax filings for a consolidated group of 10+ companies.
  • Manage unitary and separate company returns across 38 states.
  • Handle quarterly estimates and annual extensions.
  • Respond to regulatory correspondence, audits, and inquiries.
  • Collaborate with U.S. Group companies to collect and review tax data.
International Tax Compliance
  • Prepare transfer pricing documentation and annual CFC reports.
  • Conduct research and analysis on international tax issues and regulations.
Other Compliance Responsibilities
  • File annual reports with Secretaries of State, BPOL, BEA, and escheatment authorities.
  • Manage business registrations, qualifications, and withdrawals across jurisdictions.
  • Monitor nexus issues and ensure compliance across all U.S. Group companies.
Internal Financial Reporting (IFRS/GAAP)
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax provisions (FAS109/IAS12).
  • Reconcile tax accounts and maintain effective tax rates.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Oversee corporate income and franchise tax functions, including international compliance and transfer pricing.
Leadership & Development
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, sharing your knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Note: A Masters degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more of experience will be rounded up to one year.

**Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience**
**Tax Accountant** - At least 3 years of accounting experience or 1 year public accounting or corporate tax department accounting experience.
**Senior Tax Accountant** - At least 5 years of accounting experience or 4+ years of public accounting or corporate tax department accounting experience.
Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more of experience will be rounded up to one year.
**Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:**
+ CPA or CPA-candidate preferred
