Job Summary:

As a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist, you will be responsible for operating CT scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patients' internal organs and tissues. You will work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information for patient care.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Perform CT scans on patients as ordered by physicians

  2. Prepare and position patients correctly for imaging

  3. Monitor patients during scans and ensure their safety and comfort

  4. Maintain and operate CT scanner equipment

  5. Ensure images are of high quality and accurately capture the necessary information

  6. Communicate with radiologists to review images and provide preliminary findings

Job Summary

This position uses specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross sectional images of the human anatomy which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders. Follows established protocols as well as being able to make adjustments to set parameters on the operating console to compensate for different patient conditions all while keeping radiation exposure to the patient at a minimum and still producing high quality diagnostic images. Documents important patient history as related to the procedure. Accurately prepares the exam room and tray set up for invasive procedures. Proficient at starting IV's to inject contrast media via an automatic injector. Communicates well with other staff, creating an atmosphere of teamwork, as well as physician offices to ensure accuracy in order information contributing to the efficient operation of the department. Participates in accreditation and quality initiatives and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program in a JCERT approved school which meets the requirements of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • State of Indiana Radiologic Technologists License.
  • One year of previous CT experience.
  • Current ARRT(R) and ARRT(CT) Registry.
  • CPR certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire.

Performs a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation. Performs CT scans as directed. Communicates with the physician and other work-related personnel appropriately.

Essential Functions

  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's values: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
  • Identifies patients and procedures. Communicate with nursing or physician concerning patient. Inform nursing of patients that need IV sedation or biopsies. Fill out questionnaires on all patients between the ages of 12-55 yrs. old. Positions patients accurately for all CT procedures. Patients are transferred and positioned correctly for anatomy to be demonstrated for best visibility. Know scanning protocols in depth. Must be able to perform procedures correctly using protocol book for reference. Studies must be done in a timely manner and taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after completion of exam. Write time procedure is finished and filmed on patient board. Films must be archived and taken to radiologist for reading. Obtains appropriate supplies and prepares room for patient. Keeps room cleaned and stocked at all times. Adequate supplies and linens must always be available. Tables and trays must be cleaned after each patient. Use proper technique when injection IV contrast. Ensure IV is working and checked first with an injection of saline. Choose correct method of injection (hand or injector). Must be proficient in filming from imaging workstation. 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction. Responds to codes and other emergency situations appropriately.
  • Explains CT procedure to patient and/or family member. Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history and clinical from patient, floor or physician's office. Informs patients and families of all delays. Trains co-workers and students. Assist other technologists when not busy in assigned CT room.
  • Acquires requisition and checks for appropriate clinical. Charges procedure, supplies and surgical codes when exam is completed. Indicates no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time. Adds surgical charges when needed. Operates the PAC's system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive. Reports equipment problems to supervisor, in-charge tech and documents confirmation numbers. Appropriate forms must be completed for all procedures. Fill out contrast sheet on all patients receiving IV and rectal contrast. A contrast media form must be filled out on all patients, CT forms must be filled out on all patients. Communicates with radiologist to determine appropriate protocols for each exam. Correct protocols are utilized as prescribed by the radiologist. Procedures must be performed as directed by the radiologist. Correct scans as performed. Demonstrates recognition of anatomy and pathology as related to scan being processed. Perform warm up calibrations as needed.

**SUMMARY OF POSITION:**
Through departmental established duties and responsibilities, perform high quality computed tomography exams and procedures for use by physicians and radiologists in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Plans and performs all CT procedures and post processing using advanced technology based on clinical criteria, anatomy and established protocols.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
+ **Must be registered or registry eligible by one of the following accrediting bodies:** American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Radiography Program or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board Program (NMTCB)
+ Graduate of ARRT Radiography Program Graduate
+ Must pass the radiography ARRT registry within three (3) months of employment
+ Must pass the CT ARRT registry within 18 months of employment
+ Must pass NMTCB registry within three (3) months of employment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
+ CT experience preferred.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CT Technologist to join our team. This position will also include back office duties assigned by the Clinic Lead and/or Operation Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

· Sinus CT Imaging: Perform high-quality Sinus CT scans according to standard procedures and physician orders. Ensure proper positioning of patients for optimal imaging of the sinus area.

· Patient Safety: Prioritize patient safety and comfort during the imaging process. Adhere to radiation safety standards, including the use of appropriate shielding, dose reduction techniques, and proper patient preparation.

· Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain CT imaging equipment, ensuring proper calibration and troubleshooting. Conduct routine quality assurance checks and assist with equipment maintenance as needed.

· Patient Care: Educate patients on the procedure and what to expect. Provide a compassionate and supportive environment for patients undergoing Sinus CT scans, especially those who may feel anxious or uncomfortable.

· Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines, including infection control and radiation safety protocols. Ensure that all equipment is in safe working condition and that procedures are in line with regulatory standards.

· Clinic Duties: In the back office, responsibilities involve preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, maintaining medical records, and supporting healthcare providers during procedures. Additional tasks may be assigned by clinic leadership to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Qualifications:

· Education:

· Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

· Completion of a CT-specific training or certification program (required).

· Licensing/Certifications:

· Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography (R) and CT (CT) (Required).

· Texas CRT (Certified Radiologic Technologist) is required.

· Experience:

· Previous experience in CT imaging is preferred but is not required.

· Knowledge of sinus anatomy and specific protocols for imaging sinuses is preferred.

· Skills and Abilities:

· Strong understanding of radiation safety, imaging techniques, and patient positioning.

Position Overview

Qualifications

  • Education:

  • Graduate from a school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JRCT.

  • Experience:

  • A minimum of
    five years of progressive experience
    in the specific modality (CT) is required.

  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must have participated in inspection and accreditation processes specific to the modality.
  • Certifications:

  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
    OR
    certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

  • CT certification is required.
