We are currently seeking a Data Analytics Discipline Leader who will play a crucial role in leveraging data analytics to enhance a firm's capabilities in environmental services. This position involves working across multiple technical practice areas to support marketing and business development initiatives related to environmental data analytics. The leader collaborates with discipline leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and the environmental data analytics group to gather ideas and assess needs for data analytics. The leader establishes relationships and processes for evaluating ideas and initiatives, ensuring that the firm stays ahead of competitors by continuously improving data management and analysis capabilities. This role is essential for navigating the competitive landscape and meeting the growing demands for advanced data analytics solutions in the environmental sector.
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
- Conduct evaluations of available data analytics technologies and platforms to analyze a wide range of environmental data across various applications (e.g., water quality assessments, remedial investigations, remedial actions, and operations and maintenance of treatment systems).
- Assist with the technical sales, design, and delivery of data analytics solutions tailored for environmental applications.
- Collaborate with local, national, and international technical teams in the fields of business technology and data analytics.

Must have extensive understanding of environmental analytics. A degree in computer science or programing with environmental experience is also acceptable.

- IP Management: Experience in managing intellectual property and options for doing so.

The Chief Data Officer will oversee our data evaluation team to assure clear requirements, metric standards, and accuracy of all data extracts used for any reporting. This includes best practices, standardizing methodology used by data team, provide training curriculum for the data team ensuring the team is up to date on latest tools and processes.

How does it get done?

Maintains authority and accountability for exploiting the value of enterprise information assets and of the analytics used to render insights for decision making, automated decisions, and augmentation of human performance. Builds a competent and diverse leadership team and workforce; recruits, leads, and mentors management staff through motivation and education; provides a clear vision and sense of mission for the organization; functions as a change agent. 15%

Builds partnerships with executive leadership to establish the vision for managing data as a business asset - to exploit data and analytics capabilities to maximize the value derived from data assets. Leads high-level programs and initiatives through technical design, development, and integration. 10%

Defines data and analytics vision, strategy, and associated practices. Leads the creation (and assures the ongoing relevance) of the organization¿s data and analytics strategy in collaboration with the Department Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, CIO, and Strategy Director. Institutes an enterprise operating model for data and analytics that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy.15%

Fosters the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies, and data literacy across the department. Leads these transformation efforts by developing D&A talent and maturing the capability of the organization. 10%

Oversees delivery models, methods, and practices for creation of data products and to ensure consistent application and use of data and analytics solutions. Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and ten (10) years of combined experience in cloud engineering, cloud migration, data engineering, data integration, streaming data development, data warehousing, data curation, data analysis, design, storage, and data protection and security. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
