This key position in AutoZone's distribution center oversees and manages the daily operation of a single shift in the distribution center responsible for accuracy, productivity, on-time delivery and safety. The Operations Manager will regularly communicate with the DC Manager regarding process improvements, goals and metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and assist Advisors/Supervisors in multiple departments
  • Ability to motivate and work in a team environment
  • Ensure that all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are on target for the operation
  • Frequently attend and/or lead pre-shift meetings in different departments to communicate and prioritize assignments, safety issues and extra tasks
  • Mentor, train and develop Advisors for career progression
  • Develop and share best practices across shifts
  • Drive continuous improvement to safety, quality, cost and delivery
  • Communicate new policies and procedures to Advisors and AutoZoners
  • Maintains a safe working environment while ensuring AutoZoners are implementing those practices including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Ability to work in a Safety Sensitive environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years successful experience in a distribution/warehouse experience
  • Must be flexible for shift schedule
  • Cross functional experience overseeing multiple areas simultaneously
  • Experience operating Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE)
  • Exceptional people skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Understand the demands of a fast paced work environment involving receiving, stocking, inbound, outbound, replenishment, returns/recalls, etc.
  • P&L management experience preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred, Spanish and English

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interface with suppliers to obtain pricing, delivery information for proposal development and/or product. Requires extensive analysis of data, for example; comparing forecast to suppliers' commitment schedule to ensure parts availability for large customers/projects.

  • Engaged in sourcing for New Products Introduction (NPI), managing first article, and transitioning to production.

  • Responsible for analyzing the purchasing data of Engineering Change Orders (ECO's).

  • Purchase (place P.O.'s) for hot new ECO parts and urgent NPI programs.

  • Work on implementing Supplier Managed Inventory (SMI) programs, conducting analysis to determine the eligibility for the program, creating addendums, communication and training.

  • Requires ability to compile, analyze data and prepare detailed reports documenting the cost savings and inventory reductions achieved.

  • Responsible for implementation and enhancements of Supply Chain activities for the plants in the EBAC Division. Manage supply base to ensure agility goals are met. Work with the Global Supply Chain Management Team and plant personnel to ensure compliance on RTF and SMI EDI transactions.

  • Work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Interacts with individuals and cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are implemented.

  • Receive assignments in the form of objectives and plans appropriately to ensure schedules/goals are met.
  • Assist purchasing manager on the excess and obsolete inventory review and work for a disposition. Customer and supplier interactions may be required

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5-8 years of related experience
  • Result and action oriented; Ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to communicate with suppliers and multiple levels throughout the organization.

**What you'll do:**
The SCM within Eaton's growing Aerospace Interconnect division is responsible for managing key Supply Chain related functions such as materials planning, scheduling and ordering activities associated with the delivery of specific customer products, direct and indirect material purchasing, inventory control and warehousing, shipping and receiving. Manages and directs supply chain personnel in the procurement, receipt, disbursement, and inventory control of material to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders while maintaining assigned inventory levels. Is expected to train and educate direct reports on the use of supply chain management techniques, various business systems, varieties of reports and other related tools to ensure timely and economical completion of customer requirements.
**_The essential functions of this position include the following:_**
- Manage and direct supply chain personnel in the planning, scheduling, procurement, and inventory control of material to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders while maintaining assigned inventory levels
- Manage current and future demand requirements with manufacturing and supplier capabilities/capacities to ensure completion of customer requirements
- Ownership of the Production Plan from S&OP monthly process derived from the sales forecast
- Establish with team standard work and Attainment of SCM KPIs
- Work with corporate commodity teams on supplier performance and cost out programs
- Serve as member of the plant's senior management team and provides leadership and support for all local, division and corporate initiatives and objectives
- Analyze data, including enterprise requirements planning information and prepares consolidated managerial reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure plant/product line optimal Supply Chain execution
- Ensure correct planning parameters and transaction disciplines are utilized in order execution systems (SAP) to ensure proper order generation and inventory balances
- Manage material cost and schedule impact of proposed engineering changes in addition to taking necessary action to ensure successful implementation and incorporation of approved engineering releases
- Meet or exceed key metrics of days on hand, gross inventory, plant and supplier on-time delivery, days payable outstanding, cost savings, cycle count accuracy, supplier invoice on-hold metrics, and profit plan/budget forecasts. Manages inventory levels in order to meet established inventory & Day-on-Hand targets
- Ensure the accuracy of physical inventory to assure the timely fulfillment of customer orders while maintaining inventory levels that are beneficial to the overall operation of the company
- Foster an environment that promotes Eaton's vision, encourages continuous improvement while aligning with supply chain functional requirements (i.e. Materials Management Assessment)
- Support SCM strategic initiatives and helps to lead related functional SCM/OpA assessments
