Special Education Teacher Key Responsibilities :
  • Lesson Plan Development:  Create effective lesson plans that include accommodations and consultation with general education teacher as needed. Plans should accommodate various student levels, include procedures for assessing knowledge, outline the content standards addressed, and specify the curriculum used. Adapt the general education curriculum according to needs outlined in the IEP. 
  • Supervision of Paraprofessionals:  Oversee and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom. While Program Supervisors and Site Administrators will assist in supervision, it is the teacher's primary responsibility in the classroom.
  • Implementation of PBIS Program:  Manage the classroom's Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, including tracking behavior points, maintaining the student store, and communicating with parents/guardians. 
  • Classroom Management:  Maintain a classroom environment that prioritizes student engagement and safety, implementing the behavior plan, modifying state-adopted curriculum, and employing strategies to effectively teach students with various disabilities.
  • IEP Meetings and Documentation:  Attend IEP meetings for students assigned to the classroom. Write updates for each student's annual IEP in coordination with the state standards, school district expectations, and enter all IEP updates (Present Levels, BIP, ITP, and Goals) into the dedicated IEP documentation system prior to the meetings. Maintain documentation on IEP goals, student academic and social growth, prepare progress reports. Ensure documentation is accessible and provided upon request in a timely manner. Ensure confidentiality of records according to district and FERPA regulations. 
  • Collaboration:  Work collaboratively with other staff and outside agencies to effectively educate each student.
  • Assistive Technology:  Support implementation and use of assistive technology including, but not limited to, augmentative communication devices. 
  • Instructional Planning:  Plan instruction and design learning experiences based on data. Conduct summative assessments with each student in accordance with IEP goal reporting timelines. Administer, transfer, and interpret educational assessment data for supporting educational decision making and goal development. 
  • Professional Development:  Participate in ongoing professional development activities as directed by the district including teacher and all staff trainings.  
Special Education Teache r Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Valid IL LBS PEL from ISBE.
  • Experience: Teaching experience with students with a variety of learning, emotional, or cognitive disabilities.
  • Background Check: Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance).

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Instructional Supports in the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD), the Coordinator will leverage expertise in special education pedagogy, compliance, and instructional leadership to drive systemic improvements. The Special Education Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring equitable, inclusive, and effective instructional services for students with disabilities across Chicago Public Schools. This is a full-time, exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.

The Special Education Coordinator will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Plan and develop ongoing coaching and support for special education teachers and paraprofessionals, school administrators, and network leaders
  • Model and promote inclusive practices within and beyond the classroom
  • Design and facilitate professional learning sessions focused on research-based strategies that support Effective Instruction and Conditions for Learning
  • Serve as a consultant to teachers in strengthening instruction design and delivery
  • Assist in the continuity of the instructional program to ensure that students with disabilities have access to grade-level instruction
  • Analyze academic, functional, and behavioral data for IEP development and planning
  • Develop strategic network action plans and partner with school-based teams to drive school improvement
  • Support cycles of improvement at the network level
  • Ensure implementation of IEPs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Support schools and networks with monitoring service delivery and instructional fidelity
  • Monitor IEP development across the network to ensure compliance with federal and state law, state Board of Education policy and CPS policy

In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Special Education Coordinator must possess the following qualifications:

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is required
  • Masters degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field strongly preferred
  • PEL with Special Education endorsement (e.g., LBS1, LBS II, and/or ECSE) required
  • General Administrative Endorsement (Type 75) preferred

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience teaching special education

ABOUT THE CENTER FOR HEALTH INFORMATION SHARING & INNOVATION (CHISI)

The Center for Health Information Sharing and Innovation (CHISI) supports the meaningful sharing of data to address social drivers of health, center community power, and promote systems change. We plan, incubate and implement data driven, multi-sector policy and program initiatives that improve public health, healthcare and social sector systems.

A signature CHISI project funded by the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development, IPHI serves as the backbone organization for the community-centered Chicago Regionwide Community Information Exchange• (CIE). A Community Information Exchange, or CIE, is a network of health and social service organizations and agencies that develop shared governance to support the health-related social needs of community members who face multiple, often related, challenges (e.g., food insecurity, unstable housing, and access to health care).

JOB SUMMARY:

The Training and Education Program Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs that enable both internal CIE staff and external partners to effectively use the shared CIE platform, interpret data, and adhere to data-sharing protocols. This role ensures that all participants in the Community Information Exchange (CIE) network are equipped with the knowledge and skills to contribute to coordinated care. The role is central to fostering a culture of continuous learning and equitable engagement, supporting both onboarding and ongoing capacity-building.

This position is full-time, exempt. The CIE is led by a Managing Director, who is supervised by the CEO, and who will work closely with the Center Director. IPHI's standard work week is 37.5 hours.

The IPHI operates in a dynamic funding environment, and the availability of specific program funding may evolve over time. Meeting Planning & Facilitation
  • Facilitate training sessions across multiple modalities (in-person, virtual, self-paced), adapted for different learning styles and professional backgrounds.
Communication & Writing
  • Communicate proactively with partner organizations and internal teams regarding training schedules, participation expectations, and technical requirements
  • Serve as a key point of contact for training-related support, both internally and externally
  • Support the documentation and dissemination of policies and protocols that ensure accessible and inclusive training experiences

Teamwork & Team Relationships

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A bachelor's degree in public health or a related area is required (or equivalent of 4 years of Public health-related experience)
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in healthcare, public health, social services, business, or social sciences research, or in another related area is required
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and familiarity with adult learning principles required
  • Experience managing or leading training strategy for cross-sector partnerships strongly preferred
  • Expert understanding of Microsoft programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook
  • Other preferred skills:

This role requires 90% travel including driving and flying. Qualified candidates need to live within 1 hour of an airport.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer training on all clinical applications of equipment specific to the care area. Provide webinars and remote and/or on-site meetings to assist the customer in gaining an understanding of the Spacelabs Solution while determining best practices.
  • Assess and document clinical workflow in the various care area departments using Spacelabs equipment.
  • Outline recommended options that address the best use of Spacelabs Solution. Assist with the development of hospital procedures for Spacelabs Patient Monitoring Solution before customer education and implementation.
  • Work with Clinical Education Program Specialist to develop customized clinical documents and product training tools based on workflow processes.
  • Work with Clinical Education Program Specialist to get customers set up with e-learning.
  • Adhere to Spacelabs established education format and customer protocols.
  • Work closely with Clinical Solutions Specialist and other internal partners (e.g. Sales, Service, Project Managers, Clinical Solutions Manager) to coordinate installation and training events at the assigned customer site, ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Provide comprehensive product training to hospital clinical teams and physicians on the Spacelabs Solution including:
    • Pre-install training
    • User-specific classes to enhance training to workflow responsibilities
    • Enhanced Resource User Training
    • Physician training on Clinical Access
  • Manage and organize all required documentation and training records for FDA and other regulatory compliance for all clinical training.
  • Support customer go-lives covering various shifts
  • Periodically perform evaluations of the utilization of Spacelabs clinical solution at customer sites.
  • Communicate all relevant customer information including product and/or customer feedback or opportunities to appropriate Spacelabs personnel.
  • Participate in departmental clinical presentations.
  • Develop and track metrics, benchmarks, and success criteria to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of training.
  • Develop clinical education program schedules in accordance with the required timeframe (per the customer order).
  • Properly document and report all activity in a timely manner, as required.
  • Maintain all assets (i.e., company-issued laptop, vehicles, etc.) in good condition.
  • Utilize efficient time management and cost containment in all activities, in order to meet schedule and budget requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a positive, solutions-oriented approach when interacting with co-workers and customers. Remember that you are the on-site representative for Spacelabs - model a corporate culture that creates a positive experience for customers, patients, and families centered on the Spacelabs Solution.

Qualifications
  • Licensed Registered Nurse required.
  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • 8+ years of overall professional experience to include:
    • 5+ years of nursing experience in Emergency Department/ Critical Care required.
    • 3+ years of experience as a Clinical Educator in industry preferred.
  • Previous teaching/in-servicing experience in an educator or preceptor type role strongly preferred.
  • Experienced user in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required.
  • Comfortable with equipment and computer use, WebEx, etc., as a remote user. Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes. Strong project management skills.
  • Highly developed relationship-building skills, and strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience working positively and productively in a team environment. Highly collaborative.
  • Demonstrated effective presentation skills, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, autonomy, self-motivation, and a high level of professional demeanor.
  • Successful completion of Spacelabs training required (including training done at Company location). Must become fully competent in the application and operation of all products in all care areas.
  • Work various shifts as deemed necessary for successful installation and training; often working as sole Spacelabs representative at customer sites
  • Required to register with a vendor credentialing service. As part of this process, may be required to submit personal information to a credentialing service company, to provide proof of vaccinations or related medical information, and to comply with other requirements needed to be able to work at the customer site.
  • May be required to complete applicable US federal background checks and meet requirements for access to US government facilities and/or government IT networks.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Must be based within one hour of an airport.
