Summary:

The Clinical Education Coordinator reports directly to the Clinical Education Support Manager and is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of the clinical student rotations and site rotations as assigned, which may include matters of significance that may impact the quality of a student's educational experience and outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assign and monitor student clinical rotations, which includes identifying and managing issues that may arise during a student's clinical rotation. Determine which issues to manage and which issues will require input and escalation to the Clinical Education Support Manager.
  • Assign and monitor clinical clerkship sites, including the negotiation, updating and maintenance of a current affiliation agreement between CCOM and the clerkship site.
  • Maintain effective communication between the department and students as it relates to all information necessary for the students to meet the requirements of their rotation.
  • Maintain any and all departmental information and communication, including web and distance learning based.
  • Maintain effective communication between the department and the clinical clerkship sites including maintaining all paperwork required of students and CCOM by the clinical clerkship site.
  • Maintain a support structure for the chair, course directors, didactic lecturers which may include preparing and obtaining current Letters or Agreement with each and being available to assist the Clinical Department Chair as necessary.
  • Coordinate and assign department didactic sessions and course curriculum. Facilitate communication with clerkship sites, didactic lecturers, students, and web-based delivery and room assignments on campus or at distant site. Attend didactic sessions to help facilitate didactic delivery.
  • Compile and track clinical rotation data, evaluations, logs, web-based learning assignments, test scores, and final rotation grades.
  • Participate as appropriate during the design and implementation of department and course curriculum, including the orientation of the MS2 class prior to their matriculation into their clinical rotation years.
  • Attend department meetings as necessary or requested.
  • Assist in the development of new clinical clerkship rotations through relationship development and maintenance.
  • Submit annual updates for the clinical clerkship manual.

Education and/or Experience

The ability to build positive rapport with many groups of internal and external stakeholders is required to be successful in this position. What You'll Do:

  • Conduct weekly one-on-one sessions with identified roster of students to support academic success including, but not limited to: assessment of student learning profile, creation of customized remediation plan, monitoring student progress, and advising of course selection for next term. Sessions are 50 minutes in duration and may be once or twice each week as needed for the general CSD student population.
  • Advocate with and for students, as appropriate, in collaboration with faculty, staff, therapists, parents and other key individuals in students' lives. Understand CSD confidentiality policies and optional self-disclosure of students' CSD enrollment.
  • Complete and maintain necessary forms, reports and an ongoing record of the weekly sessions with each student; collaborate with the CSD Advisor or administrative staff regarding individual student needs and progress.
  • Collaborate with staff sharing key knowledge and best practices as well as accepting same from staff to increase one's own knowledge-base.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings contributing to discussions and any follow-up assignments related to departmental needs.
What You'll Need:
  • Master's degree in Special Education, Disability Education/Rehabilitation, Disability Counseling, Learning Disabilities, Social Work, or related fields
  • Knowledge of diagnostic testing instruments (e.g., WAIS-IV, Woodcock Johnson-IV, WIAT-III, BASC3), interpretation of results and associated accommodations
  • 4-6 years experience providing instructional and advocacy support for students and/or adults with disabilities

Job Summary:

The Director, Arts Education will lead district-wide instructional strategy, curriculum, and policy development and implementation in arts education across Chicago Public Schools. Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Experience Required:

+ Coordinate carry-over strategies developed by the cognitive or trans-disciplinary team.
+ Attend weekly clinical team meetings with the communication/cognition team.
+ Complete all necessary documentation such as service summaries, reports, billing slips, etc. in a thorough and timely manner.
+ Supervise and assist in the development and implementation of the curriculum.
+ Develop methods for evaluating student progress.
+ Meet with parents and students to provide guidance and seek solutions to problems.
+ Implement the policy and procedure of the classroom environment.
+ Attend all mandatory program/company training.
+ Establish and maintain a supportive working relationship within both the agency, school, and broader community service network.
**_Qualifications:_**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Special Education.
+ One year of experience in classroom or tutorial settings; experience with special education preferred.
+ LBS 1 licensure is required.
+ Must be at least 21 years of age per DCFS requirements.
+ Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.

+ A good listener with an ability to empathize while still providing guidance.
