Pay dependent on experience but starting at $50/hr
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Special Education from an accredited institution
Valid state license or certification for Mild/Moderate Education Specialist
Demonstrated experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting, with a strong emphasis on supporting those with special needs
Responsibilities:
As a Special Education Teacher with Birch Agency, you will:
Provide direct/group instructions to students with disabilities
Develop lesson plans/instructional material to meet needs of students IEP
Conduct educational assessments
Attend IEP meetings
Assist in planning and development of IEP
Facilitate implementation of special education services
Collaborate with other members who are part of the special education team
Employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to needs of diverse learners
Effectively communicate with parents/caregivers and staff to support students academic success
Modify traditional education curriculum to meet students needs
Ensure appropriate accommodations are available for classroom instruction and testing
Employ techniques for positive behavioral support
Assist in the collection of data for providing appropriate classroom interventions

The Health Education Assistant assists with clerical duties and patient education duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs assigned clerical duties in the clinic
- Monitors the Blood Pressure Desk
- Coordinates a wide range of health education services, including recruiting members, establishing referral system, providing scheduling and logistical support to promote the well-being of patients and the community
- Assists in distributing written Health Education materials
- May be required to work sometimes at satellite NEMS sites and/or at weekend events
- Provides assistance in the educating clients on the scope of services available at NEMS
- Participates in community outreach programs as needed
- Provides group class or one-on-one health education services to members and the general public
- Counsels patients on a variety of subjects such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, smoking cessation, substance abuse, teen health, Hepatitis B, preventive cancer screening and immunization, etc.
- Serves as a resource to patients and provides them with the best information available
- Collects, tabulates, and analyzes program data, and prepares monthly services reports
- Provides phone call services and schedules appointments for patients for the events and services such as classes and support groups
- Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor
- Minimum high school degree or equivalent
- Two years of work experience in a health clinic or a health care facility preferred
- Ability to operate a digital blood pressure monitor preferred
- Must be able to work sometimes at satellite NEMS sites and/or at weekend events
- Ability to perform clerical duties efficiently and in a timely manner
- Ability to present ideas accurately, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing; assists in the promotion of public health education programs
- Ability to work with a computer on Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Current documentation of Basic Life Support is required
- Fluent in Chinese, both oral and written (Cantonese &/or Mandarin)
- Must be able to read and write English fluently
- This is a FLSA Non-exempt position.
