Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Electrician with specialized expertise in bending and running all types of conduit and installing large wires to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our projects, ensuring the efficient installation of conduit systems and large wire installations in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Bend and install various types of conduit, including PVC, EMT, rigid metal conduit (RMC), and intermediate metal conduit (IMC), using manual and hydraulic bending equipment.
- Plan and layout conduit runs based on architectural drawings, electrical blueprints, and project specifications.
- Install large wires and cables in conduit systems, ensuring proper sizing, routing, and termination.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to coordinate conduit installation activities and meet project deadlines.
- Conduct measurements and calculations to determine conduit bend angles, offsets, and spacing requirements.
- Select and use appropriate tools and equipment for conduit bending, cutting, threading, and fastening.

- Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and project progress.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior electricians and apprentices as needed.

- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrician specializing in conduit bending and large wire installation.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Expertise in using conduit bending tools and equipment, including hand benders, hydraulic benders, and mechanical benders.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and regulations, including NEC requirements for conduit installation.

Typical duties of an E&I Mechanic include, but are not limited to:

Follows safe work practices as set forth by company standards, NFPA, and other codes in electrically classified and non-classified areas.

Uses Lock, Tag, Clear and Try procedure and other safe work procedures before beginning work on equipment and systems.

Work in PSM (Process Safety Management) rated and non-PSM facilities and strictly adhere to safety principles and policies as a condition of employment.

Read and understand schematics and P&ID's.

Tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic equipment and electrical circuits as required by using specialized instruments such as multi-meters, clamp-on ammeters, oscilloscopes, and frequency meters and computers. Installs specialized troubleshooting equipment for diagnostics.

Troubleshoots process control computer systems, including but not limited to DCS, PLCs, Control Logix, and RS Logix using portable computers; troubleshoots temperature, level, and pressure control instruments and processors; troubleshoots AC or DC variable speed drives and speed control systems.

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on equipment, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.

Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of research equipment or perform scheduled maintenance repairs of same equipment as needed.

Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

Perform regular preventive maintenance and calibrations on equipment.

Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, welding, cutting and material handling equipment in performing duties.

Description
This position will offer you the ability to directly apply your knowledge of transmission line engineering including, conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations and electrical principles to:

Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.

Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
-
Perform foundation designs.
-
Perform conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
-
Develop cost estimates and schedules and prepare specifications for the procurement of transmission line materials and construction.

Specify transmission line components.
-
Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
-
Review vendor submittals.
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days. Dependent upon your location, this opportunity offers a generous relocation package.
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

This position requires a BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
-
Two or more years related experience in transmission line engineering.
-
Related engineering, internship or co-op work experience.
-
Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
-
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles including basic transmission line engineering.
-
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
-
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
-
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training.
-
Proficiency with any of the following programs: PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, Microstation.

Experience in writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations.
-
Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
