Emory University Hospital (EUH) Surgical Specialties Team is seeking to hire Anesthetists - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) - to become a vital part of Emory Healthcare’s integrated academic healthcare system.
Work Hours/Schedule:
- Full Time; Rotating schedule with call.
- Schedule could be 3-4 days per week, with combinations of 8,10,12-hour and longer shifts, if desired.
Experience:
- General and/or Transplant Anesthesia experience highly preferred .
Highlights of joining the EUH Anesthetist Team:

Emory University Hospital (EUH) covers a wide range of surgical cases including Vascular procedures (open and endovascular), Surgical Oncology, Colorectal, Urology, Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery, Reconstructive Plastic Care, and General Abdominal procedures. EUH cares for a large volume of advanced Neurosurgical procedures including Craniotomy for Aneurysms, Tumors, and Arteriovenous Malformations. Additionally, EUH has a large functional Neurosurgical population where we partner with our Neurosurgical colleagues to provide anesthetics for Deep Brain Stimulation involving implanting electrodes for seizure and Parkinson’s management. EUH provides care for emergency stroke patients in a high-volume Stroke Program, and also for patients undergoing revolutionary Interventional Radiology procedures. EUH also supports a busy procedural GI and Interventional Pulmonary team. EUH also staffs one of the busiest and most successful Liver Transplant Programs in the US.
At EUH, all Anesthetists are expected to supervise Student Anesthetists as well as have the potential opportunity to participate in clinical research.
At all Emory Healthcare sites our CAAs, CRNAs and MDs collaborate within the Anesthesia Care Team model ensuring the highest level of quality and safety for our patients.
Description- Under the direction of an Anesthesiologist, assists in the administration of general and regional anesthesia to surgical and non-surgical procedure patients.
- Performs initial acute cardio-pulmonary resuscitation in life-threatening situations or as directed by a physician; Instructs others in principles and practices of anesthesia, respiratory care and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as directed by the Anesthesiologist.
- Interprets and records patient's physiological and pharmacological status, assists the Anesthesiologist in gathering routine pre-op data.
- Assists in research projects as carried out by an Anesthesiologist.
- Establishes multi-parameter monitoring of patient prior to, during and after anesthesia or in other acute care situations, including ECG, direct arterial pressure, central venous pressure, arterial blood gas determinations, hematocrits, and routine measurement of temperature, respiration, blood pressure, and heart rate.
- Establishes other monitoring as may be developed for anesthesia and intensive care use. Manages pre- and post-anesthetic care, including ventilator management/support, other respiratory care parameters as assigned/directed by an Anesthesiologist.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduate of an accredited Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) Master’s Degree program.
- Licensed or eligible to practice in the State of Georgia.
- Certified by National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) or National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).
- Must maintain biannual certification through the submission of Continuing Medical Education credits (CMEs).
- BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) required. ACLS (AHA) may be required for some locations and/or services.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium):
20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM) encompasses the historic Crawford Long Hospital founded over 100 years ago in this same location. Recently, we have added the state-of-the-art Winship Cancer wing to our footprint. Our case load includes a variety of surgical oncology procedures with heavy emphasis on Head and Neck Cancer. Additionally, we cover surgical specialties of Vascular, Neuro, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Urology, Ortho, Plastics, and multiple robotic procedures. Our EUHM anesthesia group covers this location specifically but offers the option of covering other Emory sites if desired as extra shift work.
At all Emory Healthcare sites our CAAs, CRNAs and MDs collaborate within the Anesthesia Care Team model ensuring the highest level of quality and safety for our patients.
Description- Under the direction of an Anesthesiologist, assists in the administration of general and regional anesthesia to surgical and non-surgical procedure patients.
- Performs initial acute cardio-pulmonary resuscitation in life-threatening situations or as directed by a physician; Instructs others in principles and practices of anesthesia, respiratory care and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as directed by the Anesthesiologist.
- Interprets and records patient's physiological and pharmacological status, assists the Anesthesiologist in gathering routine pre-op data.
- Assists in research projects as carried out by an Anesthesiologist.
- Establishes multi-parameter monitoring of patient prior to, during and after anesthesia or in other acute care situations, including ECG, direct arterial pressure, central venous pressure, arterial blood gas determinations, hematocrits, and routine measurement of temperature, respiration, blood pressure, and heart rate.
- Establishes other monitoring as may be developed for anesthesia and intensive care use. Manages pre- and post-anesthetic care, including ventilator management/support, other respiratory care parameters as assigned/directed by an Anesthesiologist.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduate of an accredited Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) Master’s Degree program.
- Licensed or eligible to practice in the State of Georgia.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine seeks a full-time faculty member who is board-certified or board-eligible in both Hematopathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology, at a rank from Assistant to full Professor. The successful candidate will join the expanding Section of Hematopathology within the Division of Clinical Pathology. Based at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA, Hematopathology faculty currently handle approximately 4500 in-house bone marrow/lymph node specimens and 1500 outside/expert consultation cases annually. These activities support Emory's multi-hospital healthcare system, the Winship Cancer Institute (Georgia's only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center), as well as several community hospitals throughout metropolitan Atlanta and the surrounding region. The Hematopathology group additionally reviews approximately 9000 flow cytometry immunophenotyping profiles, 3500 single gene molecular diagnostics tests, 4500 FISH panels, and 4000 cytogenetics studies for hematologic neoplasms each year. They also participate in multidisciplinary leukemia/lymphoma conferences and are involved in the training and education of fellows, residents, medical students, hematopathology laboratory staff, and students of allied health science programs. The successful candidate will also share clinical service responsibilities with other molecular genetic pathology faculty who currently review approximately 1500 targeted NGS panels for hematologic neoplasms and solid tumors.
The successful candidate is expected to have strong diagnostic, teaching and interpersonal skills in both hematopathology and molecular genetic pathology, and be eligible for medical licensure in Georgia. Job Summary
