The Applications Engineering team in Houston, TX is responsible for supporting the sales of power generation equipment for various markets. Customers are typically end users in oil and gas and industrial markets. The equipment we package is primarily reciprocating engine generator sets under 5 MW, Scope of supply may include electrical switchgear, transformers, heat exchangers, absorption chillers, Waste Heat Recovery unit (WHRU) and other balance of plant items.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties- The Applications Engineer is responsible for providing conceptual and front-end engineering as required, estimating, proposal development and technical support for power generation projects within the USA & International locations.
- Evaluate the design and performance of the proposed equipment; ensure deliverability and reliability of suppliers to meet Customer’s specifications and timetable.
- Review scope of supply definition and project specifications, develop equipment selection and sizing, and prepare cost estimates and technical/commercial proposals.
- Maintain knowledge of industry and company standards applicable to the equipment being offered.
- Interface with all operational departments within the company.
- Maintain customer relationships; participate in client clarification meetings as required.
- Participate in product development / packaging improvements to provide more cost-effective products.
- Develop application guidelines, technical presentations and proposal templates to assist sales, marketing and application teams
- Position may require Domestic and international travel to support customer meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering from a four-year university; and minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of generators, switchgear, load sharing or engine controls is required
- Previous Customer facing experience preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
- Computer proficiency is required. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
- Able to prioritize the work in multi-tasking environment.
- Able to meet tight deadlines, follow up on commitments, and action wherever appropriate.

- Project Lead experience and subject matter expertise in LNG, FLNG, hydrogen, ammonia & fertilizers.

- Petrochemical or Process Industry experience.
- Working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70 National Electrical Code).

- Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects. Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. May oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis problems and methods. Actively delegates appropriate tasks to lower level team members to develop depth of project execution staff. Reviews lower level engineering work or assignments. Is responsible for one or more of the following: leading production teams; coordinating multiple discipline activity; and serving as the responsible charge for a project.
- Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
- Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers on low to moderately complex projects. Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on low to moderately complex projects. Provides support to business development or pursuit activities and may offer other services to clients.
- Recognized as a technical specialist and has knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a particular practice area. May design a complete project of moderately complex scope or support multiple projects on the complex technical challenges. Actively fosters knowledge management and provides mentoring. May develop and apply advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems
- Typically assists with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required. May participate in career planning, and learning and development. Actively mentors lower level professionals and identifies successors to train in the specifics of their role.
May assist with resource management strategy. May have responsibility of engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline. May be accountable for some administrative responsibilities that include but aren't limited to:
- Ensuring policies, procedures and processes are effectively implemented and communicated for work group.
- Ensuring adherence to corporate and division programs.
- Approving timesheets and expense reports.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- U.S. Professional Engineer License - Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary

- Experience with ETAP or SKM Electrical system analysis modeling software
- Experience with industrial power distribution system designs including MV and LV switchgear, MCC’s, VFD’s, power distribution transformers, batteries and UPS
- Experience with protective relay settings and equipment sizing calculations associated with power distribution equipment

How You’ll Spend Your Time- Reviewing tax compliance and advisory services for energy sector clients, with a focus on upstream (E&P) oil and gas partnerships
- Managing client engagements from planning to completion, ensuring efficiency and budget adherence
- Advising on complex tax matters, including IDC, tax depletion, depreciation, and E&P-specific deductions
- Staying ahead of industry tax changes, researching and analyzing legislative updates
- Developing and implementing tax strategies to ensure compliance and optimizing client outcomes
- Identifying business opportunities and recommend additional services for client growth
- Collaborating with external advisors, including attorneys and financial professionals, on client matters
- Providing tax advisory on transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring
- Conducting tax research, preparing memorandums, and applying technical expertise to complex issues
- Reviewing and preparing income tax provisions, documenting uncertain tax positions
- Assisting clients with federal and state tax audits, managing negotiations and compliance risk
- Leading and mentoring team members, providing guidance, training, and career development
- Managing engagement resources and deadlines, ensuring projects run efficiently
- Support recruiting, retention, and team-building initiatives to strengthen the firm’s culture
- Delivering internal and external training on technical tax issues and industry best practices
- Serving in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, JD or a Master of Science in Taxation preferred
- CPA license
- At least 5 years of prior experience working in the tax department of a public accounting firm, with experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staff, upstream (E&P) oil and gas client experience preferred
