The applicable base salary range for this role is $87,800 to $153,700.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. As a Controls Design Engineer, you will take ownership of the design of electrical controls projects from the initial concept and component selection to detailed electrical system design. Your expertise will be essential in developing automation solutions for SilMan’s material handling clients.

• Design electrical systems, including device placement, control panel layouts, and electrical schematics.

• Material procurement of components, design networks, develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), and validate equipment.

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. Under general direction, this position supports the manufacturing production process with focus on the design, development, and implementation of new or revised production processes for the efficient and economical fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub- assemblies, and final assemblies.
+ Conducts tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and troubleshooting and resolving a wide range of complex manufacturing engineering issues.
+ Designs the arrangement of manufacturing equipment to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
+ Designs the sequence of production operations, specifying procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment, and adapting machinery.
+ Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products.
+ Provides guidance to product design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
+ Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
+ Ensures that production processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
+ Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

**Job Qualifications:**
+ Typically requires a bachelors in engineering or a related technical field as well as five or more years of manufacturing engineering experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
+ Must have a thorough understanding of manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
