Job Description
Overview:
The Risk Management Administrator ?is part of the corporate risk management team that oversees insurance, litigation, claims and document management. This position interfaces with all aspects of Brookfield Properties U.S. risk management function, with an emphasis on legal and insurance support and a sub focus on document conformity to insurance and indemnity requirements.
This position facilitates risk management processes and provides administrative support for insurance-related matters. This is a technical role requiring strong attention to detail, problem solving acumen, strong communication skills and comfortable with multi-tasking.
Key Deliverables:
+ Maintain insurance depository for all insurance policies (current and expired)
+ Provide 6-month insurance policy expiry report
+ Track and follow up on insurance policy documents and policy payments to ensure timely processing
+ Assist with insurance policy applications and placement
+ Coordinate with project teams to maintain and update trademark details with accurate ownership details, expiration dates, and renewal status
+ Request Certificates of Insurance per contractual requirements and verify compliance with contractual requirements utilizing the Risk Management System.
+ Gather information for 3rd party incident reports for all lines of insurance
+ Develop and maintain a comprehensive named insured matrix for all company insurance policies
+ Assist with documentation & monitoring of Self-insured Retentions (SIR) expenditures
+ Assist in providing documentation regarding litigation discovery requests
+ Assist in billing support for legal/litigation requirements

Job Title: Senior Risk Management Specialist

Pay Details:

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $75,000 to $90,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidates geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.

The Senior Risk Management Specialist supports the Risk Management department regarding all aspects of the organizations risk and insurance programs, while ensuring regulatory and safety compliance. This role requires an individual who possesses critical thinking skills, understands the sense of urgency and the importance of confidentiality, and can work both independently and with the team. This role will compile, coordinate, and maintain underwriting information for insurance renewals, will assist with insurance coverage placement for newly identified exposures, manage incidents, assist with incident/accident investigations, support management with claims administration, and work closely with Finance Teams regarding insurance invoicing and allocations. The Senior Risk Management Specialist will assist management in analyzing and managing risks across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business units to compile underwriting data for insurance renewal submissions

  • Conduct site investigations pursuant to incidents/accidents and prepare incident investigation reports with risk mitigation recommendations for management

  • Assist Manager and work with Legal as necessary on incident and claims investigations

  • Work closely with Security to obtain and review surveillance footage of incidents/accidents when necessary

  • Perform risk assessments and site safety inspections for various locations and departments utilizing independent judgment and discretion to make immediate decisions to address high-risk conditions

  • Provide follow-up and risk reduction recommendations to business units to correct concerning conditions

  • Develop, implement, and update standard operating procedures for various sites and business units to reduce risk exposures

  • Manage the certificate of insurance and endorsement request process with all business units at all locations, as well as work with insurance brokers on parameters for the requests based on contractual obligations

  • Work closely with the Finance Teams to determine allocations and ensure insurance invoices are paid timely

  • Maintain documentation, including policy information, claims files, certificates of insurance and endorsements on Risk Managements SharePoint

  • Upon managements request, participate in claims management reviews with insurance adjusters, defense counsel, and insurance brokers

  • Assist management with contract reviews as it pertains to liability and insurance provisions

  • Work with the Risk Analyst to review and identify loss trends for the development of loss control programs, including the implementation of training, and roundtable solutions with key stakeholders to mitigate risks

  • Provide weekly updates regarding claims activity and any other Risk Management projects and activities assigned

Skills

  • Bachelors Degree or college course work in Risk Management or related field

  • 1-2 years of accident investigation experience and at least 3+ years of risk management and insurance experience

This is a full time, temporary position with our Risk Management department. The ideal candidate will have risk management, apparent cause and root cause analysis, and experience with RL Datix would be a huge plus!

Pay Range
Minimum $90,563 Midpoint $20,016 Maximum 149,427

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

•Required: Minimum three (3) years of pediatric inpatient experience with direct involvement with clinical performance improvement.

•Preferred: Five (5) or more years of clinical pediatric experience with leadership in clinical performance improvement and/or education, and/or clinical risk management. Experience with facilitating a root cause analysis.

Education

•Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

•Preferred: Master of Science Degree in Nursing or related healthcare field is preferred and/or designation as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)

Specialized Skills

•Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to establish and maintain effective professional and interpersonal relationships with all levels of the organization. Knowledge and experience with meeting the Joint Commission Standards. Ability to problem solve, analyze situations, think critically, and provide constructive feedback. Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards; care with sensitivity and respect; advance risk management through the development of new ideas or refined processes; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission; and understand and exceed customer expectations. Ability to participate constructively and harmoniously with senior management, physicians, and associates in devising, implementing and evaluating the organization's patient safety opportunities. Demonstrates excellent facilitation and consultation skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

•Preferred: Demonstrated competency with Excel and Visio. Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Licensure

•Required: Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in California.

•Preferred: Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).

• Thorough understanding of multifamily real estate property valuations and cash flow analysis
• Excellent financial analysis skills, including evaluating property cash flows, property valuation, and personal financial statements
• Demonstrated success in thriving within a fast-paced, collaborative environment while maintaining high level of attention to detail
• Excellent verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize, plan and manage people and processes to complete credit analysis and other assignments as needed
• Familiarity with regional markets and municipal regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly adapt to proprietary systems
