**POSITION SUMMARY**
The Finance Manager provides financial/business lead support in the areas of: project management, procurement, and contract performance measurement including policy interpretation, requirements analysis, planning and administration, cost estimating, contract and subcontract administration, proposal preparation and evaluation, control systems implementation, compliance reviews, performance monitoring, data analysis, risk assessment and status reporting. Analyze contractor performance trends and prepare completion forecasts. Assist in the development of customer correspondence.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Collect and analyze performance data. Assess and quantify cost/schedule/technical status and risk; evaluate trends, and project cost completion estimates.

+ Serve as liaison to contractor finance/accounting personnel.
+ Lead the development and preparation of cost proposals in compliance with solicitations and company procedures; develop cost estimates, prepare formal submission and supporting documentation, monitor proposal process and negotiate any elements as required.
+ Provide internal financial control services including monitoring funding, preparing periodic cost status reports for technical managers and in coordinating with finance department in invoice administration and payments, job cost management, contract audit/filing and close-out process.
+ Conduct special studies and evaluations and ensure compliance with Government financial policies and procedures.
+ Coordinates, negotiates and resolves financial compliance issues with various governmental agencies to ensure accurate interpretation of contract requirements.

TIAA's Corporate Controller group is looking for a Senior Manager for the Statutory Financial Reporting team. The Statutory Financial Reporting Team is responsible for regulatory and analytical reporting for the Company's general and separate accounts. This role is responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the team's reporting, both internally and externally.
**Key Responsibilities and Duties**
+ Direct and manage the preparation of the quarterly fluctuation analysis, including accumulating financial support, performing an analytical review of the data, and networking with business partners to gather input into key trends/drivers, and significant changes for each quarter.
+ Direct and manage the preparation of monthly financial statements, including performing and documenting analytical reviews of the results.
+ Manage the preparation and perform review of the annual audited statutory financial statement and the quarterly and annual non-audited statutory financial statement (blue book) footnotes. Ensure their completeness, accuracy, and adherence to the New York Department of Financial Services requirements and Statutory Accounting Principles.
+ Prepare executive level financial reporting for presentation to the quarterly Disclosure Committee, Audit Committee, and Executive Management Team meetings.
+ Manage the completion of various regulatory reports, including the annual Management Discussion and Analysis, estimated GAAP financial statements, and responses to regulatory inquiries.
+ Provide audit support to internal/external auditors and serve as liaison for the external auditors. Maintain a sound internal control environment, create efficiencies and strengthen operating controls. Comply with and maintain all SOX procedures and controls.
+ Keep abreast of all new accounting and reporting regulations and participate in various industry working groups to ensure compliance with statutory accounting principles. The Director of Finance will set the direction for the Finance Department and to provide the managerial leadership to the Department to ensure that the line management teams of the Companies being served are equipped with the financial planning and analysis tools, data, and support to achieve their Company revenue growth, net profit, and other agreed KPIs.


Key Accountability Areas


Financial Planning:

  • Business Plans : participate in defining the company’s three-year business targets and strategies, and lead in creating the three-year and annual financial targets and operating plan.
  • Budget: lead the preparation of the Annual Budgeting process in support of the annual operating plan. Define the structure and variables to be used in budgeting. Guide and support line management in preparing budgets. Run simulations to test budget proposals. When approved, routinely report on and highlight budget-related issues.
  • Forecasts : prepare and review Monthly and YTD Results with management and utilize forward-looking business intelligence to assess current year outlook. Proactively identify opportunities and risks and drive actions to enable the Companies to meet or exceed their business plans.

Financial Analysis and Performance Improvement:

  • Month End Business Reviews: analyze and present month-end financial results dashboards, and forecast updates for the rest of the year to management, including risks and actionable opportunities for optimizing financial performance.
  • Quarterly Business Reviews : lead Quarterly Business Review Process with a half-day deep-dive assessment of external factors and key Departments’ performance to give a holistic assessment of the state of the business, including forward-looking risks and actionable opportunities to optimize business results.
  • Quarterly Board Meeting Reviews : prepare for Quarterly Board Meeting reviews and support Company leadership in presenting, in line with established formats.

Financial Closings:

  • Monthly Closing: lead in ensuring completion of month-end closing, verification, and reporting of results to relevant external and internal parties.
  • Year-End Closing: lead in ensuring completion of year-end closing, verification, and reporting of results to relevant external and internal parties.

Capital Expenditures:

  • Proposals: support preparation of Capital Expenditure proposals and assessment of return on capital invested.
  • Return on Investment: when approved, track and report on the implementation process and return on investment against the plan, as well as risks and opportunities for improvement.

Business Partnerships:

  • Collaboration with Finance and Accounting Teams : work seamlessly with Head Office and other related in-company Finance and Accounting colleagues to share best practices and provide high-value-added finance and accounting services to line management.
  • Line Management and their Teams; be a trusted advisor and partner to cross-functional colleagues, providing financial insights and coordinating efforts across the company to deliver superior business results.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Finance, Business Management, or related field.
  • 10 years in areas of increasing responsibility in a finance function
  • 5+ years’ experience in financial planning, control, and analysis, and in-depth practical knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills. Business Intelligence/Objects and Lawson M3 skills are desirable.
  • 3-5 years of managerial leadership experience.
  • Experience in multi-unit wholesale/retail concepts preferred
  • Proven strong analytical, problem-solving, consultative, and interpersonal skills.

Your day-to-day may include:
+ Develop client-focused solutions based on understanding strategy, operations, and management in several functional areas of corporations and organizations
+ Perform engagement management responsibilities, including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review and client management
+ Utilize previous consulting and industry experience to help companies set and achieve their long-term goals.
+ Perform accurate analysis and design effective solutions to a variety of client issues

+ Strong analytical skills and ability to perform quantitative analysis and develop business cases
+ Process analysis, Reporting & Business Intelligence, Data Analysis & Reconciliation
+ Working knowledge of Close-the-books, Chart-of-Accounts, Treasury, Financial Planning and Analysis & Financial Benchmarking
+ Strong interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills
+ Excellent written and verbal skills
+ Can travel as needed. Expected travel is up to 30%
The base salary range for this position in New York, NY only is between $155,500 and $33,300.
The base salary range for this position in Chicago, IL only is between 144,000 and 216,000.

**Job Description**
We are seeking a highly strategic and experienced **Director of Finance** to lead our financial operations and drive the company's fiscal health and growth. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented leader with a proven track record of financial management, strategic planning, and team leadership. **Qualifications**

+ Proven track record (10+ years) and experience within Finance and Controlling area. Very good understanding of RB controlling processes (e.g. business planning, forecasting, reporting, .)
+ Experience with One Stream Financial, SAP
+ Experience with Acquisitions or Divestitures
+ Strong leadership skills in an intercultural setting. Able to work in a team, resilient with high level of perseverance
+ Able to present complex problems in easily understandable ways.
+ Personal skill set includes excellent analytic competencies, strong communication, presentation, international networking and intercultural abilities
+ Growth minded personality, challenging the status quo and setting new benchmarks
+ Additional language fluency is a plus
