**Position Specific Description**
The Principal Power Plant Thermal Performance Engineer will be a key technical leader responsible for optimizing the thermal performance of power plants within our portfolio. This role requires extensive expertise in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to evaluate and enhance the efficiency and reliability of power generation systems. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive strategic performance improvement initiatives, ensuring that NextEra Energy remains at the forefront of the industry.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Lead the monitoring and analysis of the thermal performance of power plants, including turbines, boilers, heat exchangers, cooling systems, and other thermal systems.
+ Develop and validate advanced performance models to assess system efficiency, identify areas of improvement, and benchmark against industry standards.
+ Prepare and present detailed engineering reports, performance evaluations, and actionable insights to senior management and stakeholders.

**Desired Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
+ Minimum of 7 years of experience in thermal performance engineering within the power generation industry.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermal system modeling.
+ Proven experience with performance analysis software and tools (e.g., PEPSE, Epsilon, PI System, etc.).

**Position Specific Description**
In this role you would directly impact the company's goal of growing the fossil generation business by leading projects to ensure success, including coordination with cross functional teams (Development, Environmental, Integrated Supply Chain, Engineering, Legal, Marketing, Operations, etc.) across the NextEra Energy organization. You would report to and update leadership within the Engineering and Construction Department and provide your input and expertise on a daily basis to subject matter experts as the project leader of a collaborative and dynamic team. You would have multiple projects and be given the chance to dive into the process and progression of new and existing projects. **Job Duties & Responsibilities:**
+ Leads and facilitates the day-to-day management of projects to ensure timely completion as well as cost effective and competitive results
+ Uses analytical abilities and rigorous thinking to work cross-functionally, determine highest priority actions and tenaciously drive projects forward
+ Coordinates key functions such as capital estimate and schedule development, engineering/design, project capacity and performance metrics and supports project legal reviews, permitting activities and commercial negotiations
+ Supports due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects while identifying and developing risk mitigation plans
+ Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and utility interconnection
+ Assists in the construction of contractual arrangements for the project, must be hands on and willing to help write contract documents, both commercial and technical
+ Negotiates agreements with equipment suppliers, technical consultants and contractors
+ Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
+ Fosters relationships with internal customers, external customers and third parties and grows company's knowledge of new technologies and markets
+ Provides timely written and oral communication of project issues and progress to Engineering and Construction management
+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree with focus on relevant field associated with fossil fuel power generation or closely related field.
+ Experience: 8 years in natural gas-fired power generation or related field design and project management
**Desired Qualifications:**
+ Experience in contract negotiation
+ Strong engineering background to ensure proper oversight of engineering aspects of projects
+ Skill with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
+ Skill with Microsoft Project or Primavera project management and scheduling software
**Job Overview**
This position is responsible for the overall management of assigned organization and projects, to ensure compliance within required budgetary, scheduling, and safety goals. Employees in this role coordinate and manage construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site. Successful candidates manage the engineering, procurement and construction oversight-activities necessary to develop, license/permit, erect, start-up, and commence commercial operations.
**Job Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Works collaboratively with resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities and work plans
+ Meets corporate objectives with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources
+ Manages department resources to provide effective early-stage project development support
+ Ensures projects are efficiently, effectively and safely implemented in accordance with department procedures and policies
+ Manages walk down of planned work, validates acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approves contractor payment requests
+ Verifies constructability, ensures proper resource allocations, assesses field status and resolves issues as needed
+ Leads project meetings and reviews budget, risk tracker, and contingency allocations
+ Interfaces with project's designated management committees, or acts as Executive Director of project activities
+ Supervises activities and/or coordinates activities or groups, such as safety programs, engineering, construction, budget, and analysis and contract administration
+ Oversees commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives, with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources
+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned
