The successful candidate for this Associate Principal Counsel position will be an integral part of Disney's Employment Law team, working on employment matters from the routine to the revolutionary. This position will provide employment legal support to Disney's Florida-based businesses, predominantly handling matters concerning cast members at the Walt Disney World Resort, and be part of a team supporting matters affecting the entire Disney enterprise - Disney Experiences; Disney Entertainment (including but not limited to Disney Live Action, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, FX, National Geographic and ABC Studios); and ESPN.
**Responsibilities** :
- Advise on harassment, discrimination, retaliation and other workplace investigations.
- Counsel internal clients on various employment matters, including reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, fair pay, and wage and hour issues.
- Respond to claims and demand letters.
- Revise administrative charge responses.
- Work with Employee Relations to enhance training programs.
- Handle administrative conferences and hearings.
**Basic Qualifications** :
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department or a combination.
- Concentration in and enthusiasm for employment law advice, counseling and dispute resolution.
- Ability to spot and analyze complex issues and devise practical strategies and solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and time management skills.
- Excellent drafting, negotiating and training skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with co-workers at all levels.
**Required Education** :
- JD or equivalent from an accredited law school
- Membership in the Florida State Bar in good standing or willingness and qualification to be Registered In-House Counsel

This role involves providing comprehensive employment services including job readiness training, career counseling, job placement assistance, and ongoing support to ensure long-term job retention. Key Responsibilities:

Client Assessment and Case Management:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of veterans' skills, experience, barriers to employment, and job readiness.
  • Develop individualized employment plans that outline veterans' career goals, action steps, and timelines.
  • Reaching individual assessed, qualified, placement and retention goals required by the grant.

Job Readiness Training:

  • Provide training on resume writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and professional conduct.
  • Organize and facilitate job readiness workshops and training sessions.

Career Counseling and Support:

  • Offer one-on-one career counseling to help veterans explore career options and make informed decisions.
  • Provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure veterans are progressing towards their employment goals.

Job Placement Assistance:

  • Assist veterans in applying for jobs, preparing for interviews, and negotiating employment terms.

Employer Engagement:

Program Coordination and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, case notes, and employment outcomes.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate’s degree in social work, human services, counseling, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in workforce development, employment services, or a related field. Experience working with veterans or homeless populations is highly preferred.

Responsibilities:
+ Provide employment law advice and counsel to human resources, management, business affairs and other internal lawyers across the company on a variety of employment-related matters in connection with new business ventures and ongoing operations, including but not limited to employment policy development and application, workforce management, recruiting & hiring, accommodations, leaves of absence, discrimination, harassment & retaliation, and wage-and-hour issues
+ Provide strategic legal oversight of UDX-wide programs and projects to ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations while promoting consistency, efficiency and risk management
+ Lead and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to drive project management efforts, ensuring the timely and strategic implementation of employment-related processes

Basic Requirements:
+ Law degree
+ Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar in the jurisdiction where the role is based, or a member in good standing of another State Bar and registered as in-house counsel in that jurisdiction
+ Minimum of 7 years employment law experience
