The ideal candidate must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and passionate about Wines & Spirits. This position may require coverage at both locations: PlumpJack Wine & Spirits @ Fillmore AND PlumpJack Wine & Spirits @ Noe Valley.
About us:
PlumpJack Wine & Spirits is a boutique wine shop with two locations in the city of San Francisco. What began as a single corner shop in 1992 has grown into an entire hospitality group for almost 3 decades.
Purpose of the role:
To assist with retail sales of wine, beer, and spirits while providing an honest, approachable, and passionate experience for customers.
Responsibilities:
- Greets customer on sales floor, phone or online, and assists in determining make, type, and quality of merchandise desired.
- Provide an educational experience for the guest when purchasing wine, spirits or beer.
- Understand and respond to all customer needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist the store management with daily tasks including restocking the store on a constant basis to give the return customers a new feel.
- Handle deliveries, restock & maintain the warehouse organization.
- Maintain a high standard of service and cleanliness in the store.
- Assist the store management with performing retail inventory as directed.
- Assist the store management with marketing the store internally and externally by attending events, following up with clients, and building relationships and communicating with the marketing team to assure a constant advertising plan.
- Assist Store Management in ensuring that customers receive exemplary customer service.
- Assist in loss prevention and deter through customer service and engaging in conversation with everyone who comes into the store
- Be knowledgeable about daily sales goals and drives business to achieve them.
- To foster a team environment by creating a fun, competitive, and inviting atmosphere.
- Ensures Visual Standards are maintained throughout the day.
- Represent and market the PlumpJack Wine & Spirits in a positive and professional manner as requested and continually promote PlumpJack Wine & Spirits internally and externally by attending special events when requested and building relationships both on and off property.
- Promote and comply with all policies and procedures of PlumpJack.
- Immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions and avoid injury to self and others.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas and equipment at all times.
- Attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
- Perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
- Adhere to the attendance and punctuality policy as outlined in the PlumpJack Employee Handbook. To report to work as scheduled and be prepared to start work.
- Previous retail experience preferred.
- Basic-intermediate wine, beer and spirits knowledge with the desire to learn more
- Basic computer skills, typing, and ability to multi-task.
- Detail oriented, organized, and efficient.
- Diplomatic and calm with strong verbal communication skills.
- Courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
- Good team player. Customer service focused. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable.
Working Conditions:
Works indoors throughout shift in small, clean, and well-lighted area. May be exposed to outdoor conditions while assisting with deliveries and storage areas.
Physical Demands:
Stands and walks short distances throughout shift. Requires upper body strength and stamina to perform routine job tasks. Frequently required to handle and move objects weighing up to 50lbs over short distance. Reaches, lifts, bends and stoops to perform routine job tasks. Frequent use of stairs, daily. Use of phones, computers and cash register, daily.
