Position Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team at our Church Avenue and Bedford Avenue Health Centers in Brooklyn, NY. In this vital role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the mental health and wellness of an underserved population. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating various psychiatric conditions, providing medication management, conducting evaluations, and offering therapeutic interventions in a supportive and culturally competent environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement tailored treatment plans, incorporating medication management and therapeutic strategies in collaboration with the patient's treatment team.
- Monitor ongoing medication management and adjust treatment plans based on patient progress.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle changes for overall well-being.
- Collaborate with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals for holistic patient care.
- Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team efforts to optimize patient care.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient interactions while adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Provide crisis intervention and manage psychiatric emergencies as necessary.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with advancements in psychiatry.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and clinical outcomes.
- Supervise psychiatric nurse practitioners and other healthcare staff as needed.
Minimum Education Requirement
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) with a specialization in Psychiatry.
Minimum Work Experience
- 3-5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, preferably within community health or Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC).
- Experience with diverse patient populations, including those with co-occurring disorders, is highly desirable.
Licensure
- Valid and active New York State medical license.
- Board Certification in Psychiatry is preferred; Board Eligible for recent graduates is acceptable.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- DEA License (active or eligible).
