**Job Summary**
**Summary:** Keeps buildings clean and orderly. Performs heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Collects and disposes of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans.
+ Dusts and damp mops floors following approved procedures.
+ Moves equipment and furniture for proper cleaning and place furniture back in correct placement.
+ Cleans assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment. Sanitize all surfaces. Follows the eight-step cleaning procedure.
+ Washes walls, windows, furniture, baseboards and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
+ Seeks out areas requiring cleaning; takes initiative to complete the task.
+ Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.
+ Performs tasks in accordance with all federal, state and county guidelines.
+ Strips, scrubs, buffs and refinishes floors; shampoos carpet.
+ Contributes to the team; exhibits professionalism with customers, fellow employees and others.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Summary
- Provide supervision over the health, welfare, and safety of inmates, staff and public within a secured jail facility with a 56 bed capacity. Position also ensures compliance with department policy and Department of Correction's standards for a county correctional facility.
- Respond to medical emergencies within the facility.
- Must be knowledgeable in all county and jail policies and procedures, and operations.
- Must be proficient in the use of the jail and State computer.
- Maintain safety and security in the jail. Must search inmates, property brought in, and the entire jail facility.
- Have to be able to keep accurate logs, and updated files.
- Verify, administer, and log medications.
- Conduct daily indiscriminate strip searches of work release inmates upon return from work.
- Monitor volunteers that come in to provide activities for the inmates.
- See to the daily needs of the inmates.
- Can be a bailiff for court at times, and make occasional transports.
- Receive training in federal, state and local laws as they apply in law enforcement and detention facilities, including federal and state correction standards.
- Miscellaneous duties assigned by department heads.
- Minimum of 1 year post-secondary education in law enforcement, corrections, sociology, or related field and 2 years related experience OR
- High School/GED Diploma and 4 years related experience.
- Current First Responder Certification Preferred.
- Ability to use judgment and problem solving skills in dealing with inmates.
- Ability to react effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
- Good written and verbal skills.
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude.
