The FX Connect Product team is seeking a Business Analyst. The individual will primarily be responsible for working with the Product Management team to develop and document detailed functional requirements from high-level business needs. The successful candidate must have strong written and verbal skills and the ability to work independently.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the product managers to take high-level business requirements and analyze and define functional requirements including constructing workflow charts, diagrams and screen mockups.

Responsibilities include award set-up, transaction processing, compliance review, cash management, collections, financial reporting and project close-out. Responsible for material accuracy of financial statements /reports. Analyze financial results and outcomes, trends/projections, performance metrics and provides root cause analysis to help facilitate business decisions while adhering to institutional policies and procedures and Sponsor guidelines.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compliance Management: Read and develop full understanding of business and financial terms and conditions of grant, contract, and/or clinical trial agreement.Maintain compliance with allowable costs, period of performance, subrecipient monitoring, tracking cost share and program income, effort reporting, reporting, other special test provisions, cash management invoicing, and clinical trial billing compliance.Keep current on compliance with federal, state, local, private sponsors, and other agency regulation including Uniform Guidance.   • Month-end Close: Maintains processes and prepares journal entries to support the monthly close process and the generation of the monthly financial statements/reports. Ensures all financial transactions/entries are properly documented and completed timely.Ensures all financial transactions/entries agree with GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and with institutional policies and procedures.Possesses expertise with the institution's financial systems.

  • Reporting: Independently prepares simple to complex financial reports, working collaboratively with management, financial and program staff to address discrepancies and correct errors. Monitors and meets allinternal and Sponsor stipulated deadlines and content requirements. Ensures reports are clear, accurate, and submitted on-time. Ability to translate and accurately report financials on Sponsor required forms as required. Address ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.

  • Project Closeout:Independently complete project closeout documentation that are accurate, properly documented and on time. Ensures cost share requirements have been met, unallowable costs have been removed, subaward/contract expenses are accounted for, and outstanding obligations have been addressed. Communicates clearly with financial and program staff and others as appropriate to gather necessary information and supporting documentation. Ensure all invoices and payments are complete. Close project cost center in all financial systems.

  • Audit: Independently applies compliance with regulations and guidelines and implements/documents internal controls, policies, and procedures. Gather documentation and information for auditors from multiple sources as required.

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Q UALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, budget planning, and financial analysis with the ability to interpret and apply fiscal regulations (preferred with focus on clinical research or healthcare)

  • Ability to assess, research, and resolve complex financial and compliance issues while applying sound judgment.

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $141,200 to $58,900. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is 169,500 to 294,300. Under oversight of the Department Manager & Supervisor, the Patient Financial Services Specialist - Hospital Billing will be responsible for efficient & timely billing and collections of hospital outstanding balances on inpatient and outpatient accounts receivable of higher complexity within assigned work queues for a large multi-facility healthcare system with future expansion anticipated to maximize reimbursement to the health system.
**Job Description:**
**Essential Responsibilities:**
**Utilizes the Epic Hospital Billing System to review and monitor accounts through the Billing, Denial, & Follow-Up work queues**
**Work assigned accounts with higher complexity (high dollars, specific denial records, etc) within Hospital Billing, Denial, & Follow Up various work queues while maintaining established productivity requirements.**
**Contacts insurance carriers or other responsible parties to confirm payment dates, question why a claim was denied or questions why a claim was not processed for payment or denial.**
**Performs all Hospital Billing, Follow-Up, and Denial activities necessary to obtain payment/resolution of claims.**
**Review the entire account to ensure claims were billed properly, payments were applied correctly, and all necessary adjustments were made before moving to the next responsible party and/or adjusting balances and removing them from work queue(s).**
**Gathers all necessary documentation needed to have claims reprocessed/adjudicated**
**Informs and/or transfers to management of any problem accounts and or denial trends that require escalation within 2 days of identification**
**Documents all actions taken within the EPIC account notes section and/or follow up/denial activities note sections. Adheres to all Hospital Billing, Follow up, and Denial departmental policies and procedures/training documents.**
**Complete necessary training sessions required for the Hospital Billing system and demonstrate good working knowledge from those sessions to successfully resolve assigned accounts within Follow Up and Denial work queues**
**Document all inactive periods and make them available upon management's request.**
**Resolves accounts with higher complexity in any Claims Edit work queue and resubmits claims through the Epic Billing System.**
**Works higher level of complexity specific claim edit work queue(s) daily and resubmit claims through the Epic billing system**
**Works higher level of complexity External claim edits from Clearinghouse and resubmits claims through the Epic billing system**
**Handles Paper claims processing including proper documentation of accounts with higher level of complexity**
**Communicates all claims/data problems that cannot be handled to the Supervisor/Manager within one (1) day of identifying the problem.**
**Identifies and researches all incomplete or inaccurate information on claims, demonstrates proper handling and escalation as needed.**
**Handles payer 277 rejections on accounts with higher level of complexity and resubmits claims through Epic Billing system or other means of submission (i.e., email, fax, payer portal, certified mail) and provides trends to management for payer outreach and/or internal billing system updates to ensure timely filing and reimbursement**
