Duties Description The Healthcare Data Analyst will conduct analyses and synthesize findings essential to the Office of Health and Hospital Affairs (OHHA). This position will manage research and data resources while collaborating across the OHHA team to implement projects regarding relevant health topics on an on-going basis. The ideal candidate has experience in creating reports and visualizations to interpret and communicate findings, such as identifying patterns, trends, and insights.

The Healthcare Data Analyst will support projects with data-driven insight from complex analyses on priority health topics. Issues may include sensitive data and critical performance and policy issues. - Compile and analyze health care data utilizing advanced qualitative and quantitative skills to assess outcomes
- Develop systems and tools for effective data management, visualization, and interpretation and convey information to internal and external stakeholders
- Access data from multiple sources, including publicly available
- Develops reports, presentations, briefs and memos with analytical findings presented in a clear and understandable manner to internal and external stakeholders
- Support work on healthcare market analysis and business modeling options
- Project coordination of analyses and reporting across multi-disciplinary teams

Minimum Qualifications Required qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in statistics, economics, education, social sciences, or healthcare related field
- Statistical programming software experience such as experience with statistical programming software such as R, SAS, Python, STATA, SPSS, , (or equivalents)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, and Excel
Ability to communicate results of complex analytic findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Highly self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

- Two or more years of relevant work experience or a Master's degree in a related field

Senior Healthcare Data Analyst

Summary:

The Data Analyst will work within the Division of Data Services & Analytics (DDSA) Data Quality team. The position is multi-role in nature and will perform duties in the areas of Data Analysis, Project Management and Business Analysis. The individual will be responsible for the research and understanding of database structures and business context of various elements related to Medicaid claims. Related efforts will include the production of reports in support of the intake and management of healthcare data. The ideal candidate will be able to utilize their experience and skills to respond to requests concerning the lineage, structure, and business context of data elements withing DDSA's data catalog. They should have the ability pull data from large datasets using SQL, cleanse, standardize, and profile data tables and elements, produce summary reports of data mining and analytic exercises, and provide insight into the management and quality of data in the NYS Department of Health's Medicaid program.

Comprehensive on-the-job training and peer/supervisory support will be provided. The candidate should be able to take on new tasks and subject areas, willing to work in a team environment, and able to adjust to multiple priorities successfully.

Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
