ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide structured individual and group clinical supervision hours as required for LCSW licensure.
  • Monitor supervises clinical documentation and casework, offering feedback to support professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensure regulations and ethical standards.
  • Assist in evaluating clinical competency and identifying training needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of supervision hours and topics covered.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to support quality clinical care delivery.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor, modeling best practices in client engagement and case management

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:  

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • Current, unrestricted LCSW license in applicable state.
  • Approved by the State Board of Social Work to provide clinical supervision.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-licensure clinical experience, preferably in healthcare, aging services, behavioral health, or community-based settings.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision or mentoring MSWs strongly preferred.

Akron General's Emergency Department is a Level 1 trauma center that offers the technology, expertise, and staffing to treat all injuries regardless of severity. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM - 7:30PM, including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

* Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer or emergencies.


* Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc.


* Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, and height.


* Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck's traction.


* Perform EKGs and urinary catheterization in the ED only.


* Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.


* Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge.


* Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly.


* Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area in timely manner.


* Document patient care in the electronic medical record.


* Assist in keeping patient rooms in order, report equipment that is out of order, clean equipment (as assigned) and inventory and distribute unit linen and supplies.


* Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.



Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

* High School Diploma or GED


* Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within new hire period


* Prior job or educational experience providing basic computer knowledge and skills


* Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
