Job Summary

Summary

SUMMARY: The Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) - Invasive Specialist assists the Radiologist and Cardiologist in the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Lab in the performance of invasive procedures and provides a safe environment for the patient. The Interventional Services CRT assumes responsibility for the acquisition and processing of state-of-the-art imaging as well as the efficient operation of the equipment in the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Lab. The Interventional Services CRT will also participate in monitoring, scrubbing, and circulating duties. This classification reports directly to the Director of Cardiovascular Services.  Performs related duties as required.

1. Responsible for Quality Control on radiology imaging equipment, fluoroscopy check and radiation protection for the professional staff and Physicians.

2. Functions as a contributing member of the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team, working in conjunction with cardiologists, radiologists, registered nurses, and cardiovascular technicians.

3. Provides the technical skills necessary to assist the physician in performing Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Catheterization procedures.

5. May function as a Scrub Assistant, ensuring maximum compliance to principles of aseptic/sterile technique by self and members of the team. Ensures adequate floor and room stock are available for imaging procedures.

7. Assists in monitoring patient. Including but not limited to: Hemodynamic data/ECG/Angiographic data. Recognition of changes of the above, documenting as necessary and reporting to physician and other team members in a time sensitive fashion.

8. Assists with preparation of radiologic and other laboratory equipment to be used during the procedure while adhering to the principles of aseptic/sterile technique. Maintains and evaluates equipment, and troubleshoots equipment as needed.

9. Provides a safe environment for the patient during their stay in the Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Performs circulatory duties during invasive procedures in the Lab, including gathering and organizing equipment, instruments and supplies necessary for the performance of Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Radiology procedures, and providing emergency ACLS interventions appropriate to their scope of practice.

10. Assist RN/MD with monitoring for moderate sedation during Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Radiology procedures.

11. Can apply ACLS protocols and emergency drug knowledge during critical situations to ensure patient safety within RT scope of practice.

12. May assist RN/MD with pre-, intra-, and post procedure assessments on all patients to meet nursing needs and to assist and consult with the physician and other professional staff.

13. Provides patient education.

14. Assumes on call duty as assigned. Responds within 30 minutes to the hospital for emergency procedures.

15. Participates in promoting a healthful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patient and families; sets up and controls the environment essential for infection control.

16. Participates in the implementation of patient care standards, infection control standards and quality assurance criteria; assist with conducting studies; participates in unit and other meetings.

The ideal candidate should have experience covering STEMI calls, structural heart, vascular IR cases, and EP procedures. Key responsibilities include the ability to function in a cardiac catheterization procedural suite. Cardiac and peripheral angiograms, EP studies and peacemaker insertions. Interventional radiology procedures. Monday through Friday four 10-hour shifts with rotating call of 13.5 hours during the week and occasional weekends.

Role Overview:

Alameda Health System is hiring! Under the direction of the Vice President of Care Management, the Director of Inpatient System Care Management manages the day-to-day operations of the inpatient Care Management across all AHS facilities, including post-acute care facility for ensuring efficient patient flow, beginning when a patient is admitted to the facility and ending with a safe and clinically appropriate discharge.

    Accountable for Patient Care Coordination activities including system-wide Case Management, Care Coordination and Discharge Planning.
  • Aligns Case Management with AHS strategic and operational objectives.
  • Optimizes efficient care management/care coordination roles and processes, initiates process improvements.
  • Develops, monitors and evaluates inpatient Care Management Metrics; manages the collection, analysis and presentation data relevant to the utilization of healthcare resources, including but not limited to avoidable/variance days, readmissions, one-day stays, DRGs, LOS.
  • Develops, maintains and implements Case Management policies, practices and procedures in accordance with CMS, CA DCHS, the Joint Commission, Title 22 and other regulatory agencies and overall hospital policies; integrates managed care contract criteria into overall Case Management functions.
  • Works closely with the VP of Care Management and Physician Advisors on any audits and secondary reviews; may include but not limited to direct and coordinate data gathering, chart audits and participants in internal and external meetings.
  • Oversees educational needs and plan for inpatient Care Management division.
  • Recruits, trains and coaches the management staff to assist them with performing optimally and provides appropriate discipline/structure; consults and assists Care Management managers with problem-solving with staffing, personnel issues, budget issues and resource management; reviews and evaluates management staff performance, initiates personnel transactions and meets hospital standards for performance evaluations.
  • Supports the VP of CM with completion of financial analyses including cost of care to reimbursement, denials management, and non-reimbursed services, promoting effective resource utilization, clinical documentation/queries, quality care and patient safety; oversees the inpatient recovery process; works closely with Revenue Cycle and AHS Physician Advisors; regularly communicates with payors and/or their contracted vendors.
  • Responsible for the coordination and support of the AHS Utilization Review Committee.
  • Responsible for overseeing patient, physician and staff satisfaction based on quality outcomes and patient experience reporting; in conjunction with the Quality Leadership, identifies utilization issues affecting the quality of patient care.
  • li>Provides AHS physicians, nursing and staff education including InterQual® criteria methodology, resource management, medical necessity guidelines, payer sources, clinical outcome metrics, length of stay initiatives, readmission strategies, reimbursement rules and medical record documentation requirements. li>Serves as Content Expert/Liaison to community agencies, AHS and Non AHS primary care provider network and all AHS stakeholders across all AHS facilities (i.e. Nursing and Hospital Administrators) for provision of care and services across the continuum of care.
  • In conjunction with department managers and/or supervisors coordinates, develops, and implements action plans to respond to areas felt to be in need of improvement related to patient flow and care coordination across the continuum.
  • Assumes accountability for improving utilization metrics associated with department/unit and meeting organizational/departmental targets.
  • Evaluates, plans, and executes changes in department procedures, equipment and supplies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required Education: Master's degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Required Experience: Seven to ten years of case management or quality experience in addition to progressive management experience in a large healthcare organization is required.

Job Summary 

Emergency Medicine physicians are responsible for providing expert, safe, efficient, patient-centered, and cost-effective care within the Emergency Department and responding to in-house emergencies at the Hospital. Their role includes triaging, taking patient histories and physical examinations, interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests, correlating subjective and objective data, diagnosing, and writing orders for all patients who present to the Department. Job Responsibilities: 

    Provide medical services to all patients assigned to the ED physician. 

  • Consult with medical staff members about issues concerning appropriate medical services for such patients. 

  • Consult and cooperate with the clinical departments to facilitate patient care. 

  • Refer patients for specialty care when medically necessary. 

  • Use currently accepted methods and practices of medicine, adhere to applicable standards of care, medical ethics, policies and protocols, and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record.

Preferred Education : Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business, Public Health, Public Policy, and/or Education. Completion of graduate degree within 5 years of hire is highly desirable.

Required Experience : Three (3) years of relevant nursing experience in an acute care setting for external hires and one (1) year of experience with orientation and education of nursing staff in clinical setting; experience in education program design and evaluation using adult learning principles.

Required Licenses/Certifications : Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California; & Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification issued by the American Heart Association.
