As a Healthcare Representative , you will interview and advocate for patients and their families to obtain maximum benefit coverage in a hospital or healthcare setting

Primary Responsibilities:

Position Summary:
This position supports the Wabanaki Center for Healing and Recovery Division. The Substance User Disorder Counselor provides alcohol and/or opioid use treatment, support, resources, and education to patients, family members, and the community. This individual will advocate for and offer a coordinated effort to support the patient in meeting their individual treatment goals. This position requires compassionate service in an environment committed to learning and growth alongside a dedicated team having a positive impact on patient experience.
This position will work primarily within our Detox Center and will serve both patients in the Detox Setting and the
Outpatient Program. This position may require some weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums in collaboration with the Program Clinical Supervisor and Director.
- Provides high quality, compassionate individual, group and family counseling for patients, families and the community; facilitating or co-facilitating assigned groups and/or family sessions as needed.
- Provides compassionate bio-psycho-social services that demonstrates respect to patients, patient families and the community.
- Ensures all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents are completed in a timely and clear/concise manner in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Prepares individual treatment plans for each assigned patient. Formulates initial/follow-up assessments and aftercare for all assigned patients.
- Evaluates and educates based upon patient needs and determines if referrals to other programs and/or facilities are needed for patients and family/significant others in a therapeutic milieu setting.
- Provides crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
- Provides case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality of care as needed.
- Participates in weekly clinical staff meeting with other members of the patient team to review patient progress and service requirements.
- Collaborate with other staff, medical agencies/providers, and community outreach to provide appropriate supports and presence for individual treatment progress.
- Follows all policies and procedures regarding patient information protection, including alcohol drug patient confidentiality (42 CFR) and HIPAA (45 CFR).
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
- Must be a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or preferably a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in the State of Maine
- Bachelor's degree in a relatable field is preferred
- Current basic life support (BLS)
- Experience working with Tribal Communities preferred
- Willingness to travel to and perform duties at other Wabanaki Center for Healing and Recovery locations, as needed
- Possess a basic knowledge of administrative functions including, interpersonal communications, office etiquette, and computer skills
- Advanced knowledge of Wellbriety or 12-step treatment model and its application in residential treatment
- Knowledge and understanding of systems of violence and trauma, including inter-generational effects of history trauma and cultural diversity

Job Description
Often serving as the first point of contact for patients in preparation of upcoming appointments, this position requires excellent customer service and attention to detail. The Pre-Registration Representative is responsible for the accurate and efficient pre-registration of patients by updating patient demographic and insurance information, in advance of the date of service.
This position is per diem, Monday-Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 7:00am-5:30pm EST. Our office is located at 43 Whiting Hill Road Brewer, ME 04412.
We offer 3-6 weeks of paid training. The hours during training will be 8:00am to 4:30pm EST, Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted onsite (timing varies) **.**
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Ensures excellent customer service when assisting patients, providers, and other departments over the phone or in person
+ Collects and verifies patient demographic and insurance information, making changes as necessary to ensure accuracy within each encounter
+ Engages other departments to assist with patient questions or needs
+ Facilitates conversations with patients to provide benefit information and collects copays or other patient liabilities due, prior to service
+ Remains aware of department service level, abandonment rates and other measurable data and individual contributions to the overall metrics
+ Meets/exceeds department defined productivity, and audit goals and upholds all department policies and procedures
+ Escalates outstanding needs to department leadership to ensure pre-registration and financial clearance functions occur prior to service date, expediting patient service and assisting with smooth and on time starts
+ Verifies insurance coverage and benefits, updating the encounter appropriately
+ May perform other duties upon request

**Required Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
+ 6+ months of experience in an office setting, customer service setting (over the phone or face to face), phone support role, or call center environment
+ Beginner level of proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
+ Ability to work on a per diem basis between the hours of 7:00am - 5:30pm Monday - Friday
+ Influenza vaccination for the current flu season (typically August-May) or commitment to receive the influenza vaccination when available for the upcoming flu season
+ Must be 18 years of age OR older
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 1+ years of registration experience in a hospital or medical setting
+ Understanding of medical terminology
+ Working knowledge of insurance policies and procedures and patient care settings
+ Previously worked for Northern Light Health
The salary range for this role is $16.00 to $28.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
