About the Position
We have an exciting opening for a Residential Associate position in Portland, Oregon. Residential Associates work as members of a direct care team serving adults with serious mental illness. Primary responsibilities include supporting the development of life skills and therapeutic interventions, performing housekeeping, preparing meals, administering medication, and keeping accurate clinical documentation. If you have experience working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Residential Assistant (RA), Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA), Residential Counselor, Skills Trainer, or Caregiving for a client with behavioral health needs, then a Residential Associate position may be a great fit for you!
Vocational Training Program
For applicants starting as a QMHA-R, ColumbiaCare offers a Vocational Training Program to accelerate the training, on-the-job experiential learning, and testing preparation for qualified employees to achieve the 1000 supervised hours required to complete their certification as a QMHA-I. Through this program, this certification can be achieved in as little as 6 months. This is an optional program.

About the Program
Willamette Rose is a 9-bed Residential Treatment Facility serving adults (female gender-specific) living with a mental illness. The program is partially ADA accessible. Residents can enjoy the privacy of their own bedroom as well as a private deck and a partial private bath. Residents are screened for admission by the referring entity/state hospital, Multnomah County, and program staff to ensure appropriate placement.
ColumbiaCare Services is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
What You’ll Need
Must be eligible for Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) registration. Eligibility requires 1 out of 3 Criteria below:
- Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Human Development, or related field;
- OR minimum three (3) years of verifiable behavioral health experience working with individuals with behavioral health needs in a supervised setting;
- OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education in addition to satisfactory supplemental behavioral health experience and training
If not already registered as a QMHA through the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO), we will assist you in registering within 30 days of hire.
Vocational Training Program: Employees in the optional Vocational Training Program will have additional training expectations to meet the requirements for QMHA testing.

Key duties include the collection of demographics, medical providers involved in the patient’s care, medical decision makers, the verification of insurance/benefits, and determination of financial responsibilities. Assists patients and their families in determining active insurance coverage and provides information on accessing financial and insurance resources. Offers self-pay information and discounts as appropriate. Collects appropriate copayments, co-insurances, deposits and payments. Works in collaboration with most Revenue Cycle departments and each hospital’s units/departments to create accurate medical and financial records. Collects and provides required legal documentation to meet State and Federal compliance regulations.
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of two years college education including satisfactory completion of college level Health Records coursework preferred.
Experience :
A minimum of one year of healthcare experience or equivalent education in at least one of the following areas required: Patient Access, Medical Records/Health Information or applicable clerical support experience. Six months customer service experience required. Previous registrar and third-party payor experience preferred. An understanding of health plan and benefit structures preferred.

- Able to communicate patient financial communication, offer financial aid services, educating patients on eligibility and in and out of network status.
- Ability to enroll patients into Presumptive Medicaid services – which entails a detailed questionnaire with the patient to determine eligibility
- Knowledge of medical terminology.

Overview
The Behavioral Health Clinician - Psychologist (BHC) position is a behavioral health provider who works in a consultative role, providing behavioral health interventions to pediatric patients and their families within specialty outpatient clinics within Randall Children’s Hospital supporting infants, children, adolescents, and their families.
The BHC is a fully integrated member of the clinical provider team that assesses, evaluates, diagnoses, and treats emotional, cognitive, and behavioral issues or disorders affecting patients within Randall Childrens Specialty Clinics.
The BHC helps address a broad spectrum of behavioral health needs of the child and adolescent patient population within specialty clinics. Their goal is to aid in early identification and provide problem focused interventions that promote wellness and relieve symptoms. Behavioral issues that are addressed may be related to physical or mental health conditions. They provide assessment, management, and triage of psychological and social problems in the clinic patient population.
This position requires advanced level skill in delivering evidence-based interventions targeted to improve overall health for patients with a variety of emotional and behavioral problems. The work includes the BHC meeting with patients individually and/or families for an assessment and then providing recommendations to the primary care team to enhance the patient's care plan. When indicated, the BHC may also work with patients for several subsequent sessions to provide on-going skills training and coaching to improve health and functioning. The BHC also supports helping patients, who require services not provided in the RCH clinics, to make a smooth transition to care with community partners.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Psychology Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Psychology.
- Completion of Psychology Internship and Residency.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of pediatric clinical experience.
- Experience with trauma informed care, working in integrated medical teams, and working in fast paced environments preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Licensed Psychologist (PhD/PsyD)
SKILLS:
- Able to conduct Cognitive-Behavioral or solution focused interventions.
- Recognizes and advocates for patients regarding behavioral health strategies/interventions to the treatment team.
- Promotes health behavior change through evaluation, brief intervention and education.
- Works with multidisciplinary team to help support the patient’s health.
- Coordinates with physicians, nurses, social work care managers, registered dieticians, and all other members of the care team to provide excellent consultation.
- Demonstrates competencies in assessment of emotional, cognitive and behavioral disorders in child, adolescent.
- Demonstrates competencies in understanding the relationship between medical and psychological conditions. Demonstrates competency in assessment cognitive and psychological problems associated with, and/or exacerbating medical conditions.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and relational skills.
- This role requires managing the needs of multiple parties skillfully and with consistent follow through and informative documentation.
