Minimum of 2 years previous experience in clinical laboratory required.

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution
• Three years of experience in a clinical laboratory
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment

• An associate degree in a chemical, or biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution is required; or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR is required.

• American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist and Georgia Department of Human Resources medical technologist classification

• Independent judgment and responsibility with minimum technical supervision
• Strong organizational capabilities and good communication skills
• Exhibits enthusiasm and willingness to work with others.
• Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment.

• Maintains knowledge of appropriate specimen handling based on insurance coverage requirement.
• Executes phlebotomy duties on ages 0 to 21 years, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days), I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-17 years), and AD = 18-21.
• Actively promotes a lean culture by performing duties to promote an understanding and consistent use of lean principals and processes.

The Medical Assistant functions under the direction of the Physician, Clinical Lead, Clinical Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Supervisor and/or Office Manager. Recognizes patient's needs and symptoms in advance. Provides care for the patient under the physician's direction. Includes preparing patient for exams, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care and recording treatment in the medical record. Assists with explaining patient instructions to the patient/family. Demonstrates competency and skills to serve patients of all ages including neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. Performs other duties as necessary related to front office registration, laboratory testing, and radiology functions within a specialty setting.

Clinical and Non-Clinical Duties and Expectations

1. Register patient upon entrance to facility
2. Perform all necessary registration operations
3. Prepare equipment and rooms and aid physician with treatment of patients
4. Perform vitals and other duties to prep patients
5. Rotate among various clinical and non-clinical service areas such as lab, x-ray, and front office
6. Main safety needs of the patient
7. Cross train other team members

Diagnostic Imaging Duties and Expectations

1. Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist clinical team and physicians in treatment of the patients.
2. Prepare and position the patients for imaging procedures ensuring all proper techniques including radiation protection.
3. Obtain optimum views as ordered by the physician.
4. Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
5. Cross train other team members.
6. Complete and maintain logs, reports, and documentation

Laboratory Duties and Expectations

1. Properly start lab equipment daily and maintain daily logs and documentation requested
2. Perform laboratory tests according to orders and instructions
3. Draw blood samples from patients and perform Point of Care testing
4. Order and stock supplies weekly
5. Perform daily quality control and cleaning procedures according to guidelines
6. Cross train other team members

Patient Liaison

1. Provides relationship-based patient centered care that is consistent with population specific characteristics (e.g. age, gender, disease, etc) in a manner that adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.
2. Always partners with the patient and significant others and/or family (as appropriate) using such appropriate method for setting and purpose (e.g.,Huddles; interdisciplinary rounds; just in time and explanation of physicians instructions ); keeping the patient at ease in the physicians office, and making the patients goals the focus of the plan of care. Practices using current clinical practice standards.

Team Work and Collaboration

1. Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model. This includes, but is not limited to diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods (huddles, interdisciplinary rounds); completion of timely documentation and promotion of a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
2. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a manner that is fiscally responsible and promotes the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.

Professional Development and Initiative

1. Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, required mandatory education, and population specific education.

Position Overview
The Behavioral Health Specialist supports the Inpatient and Residential milieu by facilitating therapeutic skills and activity groups, providing therapeutic meal support at mealtimes and snacks, assisting residents in acquiring skills to manage their eating disorder, maintaining a recovery-oriented environment, and providing general support and assistance.

Schedule:

• Part Time- 24 hours per week
• 3 (8-hour) shifts, includes every other Saturday

• Facilitates therapy groups including skills groups, self-monitoring groups, and experiential activity groups which may include art activities, music, journaling, mindfulness, relaxation, and movement
• Participates in therapeutic supported meals and snacks
• Contributes to the creation and maintenance of a recovery-oriented therapeutic environment
• Participates in treatment team, mini team, therapy team, supervision, and/or case consultation meetings and seeks supervision when needed
• Completes clinical documentation in compliance with The Emily Program and Veritas policies and regulatory standards
