About the Position 

We are looking for a Residential Associate  to join our team at our Manzanita Ridge SRTF program in Junction City, Oregon! Residential Associates work as members of a direct care team serving adults with serious mental illness. Their primary responsibilities include supporting the development of life skills and therapeutic interventions, performing housekeeping and meal preparation, administering medication, and keeping accurate clinical documentation. If you have experience working as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA), Direct Support Professional (DSP), Residential Assistant (RA), Residential Counselor, Skills Trainer, or Caregiving for a client with behavioral health needs, then this position may be a great fit for you!


Vocational Training Program

For applicants starting as a QMHA-R, ColumbiaCare offers a Vocational Training Program to accelerate the training, on-the-job experiential learning, and testing preparation for qualified employees to achieve the 1000 supervised hours required to complete their certification as a QMHA-I. Through this program, this certification can be achieved in as little as 6 months. This is an optional program.

Work Schedule:  Sunday and Monday, 7:00am – 3:30pm (Part Time, Day)

What You’ll Make

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour DOE/Credentials. 

Additional 5% Language Differential offered for Bilingual or Multilingual candidates (Spanish/English desired).

About the Program

Manzanita Ridge is a new state-licensed, Secure Residential Treatment Facility (SRTF). This program serves up to 8 adults who require Aid and Assist services. Clients receive restoration services, competency assessment, mental health rehabilitation services, and personal care supports in a secure residential setting. The facility is located on the OSH Junction City Hospital campus in a home-like, ADA-accessible cottage.


ColumbiaCare Services is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. 


What You’ll Need

Must be eligible for Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) registration. Eligibility requires 1 out of 3 Criteria below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Human Development, or related field; 
  • OR minimum three (3) years of verifiable behavioral health experience working with individuals with behavioral health needs in a supervised setting; 
  • OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education in addition to satisfactory supplemental behavioral health experience and training

If not already registered as a QMHA through the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO), we will assist you in registering within 30 days of hire.

Vocational Training Program: Employees in the optional Vocational Training Program will have additional training expectations to meet the requirements for QMHA testing.

Driving is an essential function of this position. Successful applicants must provide a valid driver's license from their state of residence or obtain and submit one within 30 days of hire, maintain a safe driving record, and have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check. 


Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, reach, stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, climb stairs, as well as lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds. It may require the ability to occasionally use ladders, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable. In addition, you must successfully complete crisis de-escalation and CPR trainings, which require performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques. Evaluates sterile packs and supplies. Provides a well organized sterile area. Is aware of procedures progression and anticipates the needs of the team, observing sterile technique at all times. Performs all necessary procedures correctly to ensure patient safety intra operatively. Applies and assists with the principles of correct body alignment in positioning and transferring patients. Examines unused equipment and instruments for gross contamination and transports covered used instruments to utility room. Responsible for sterile core activities, able to prioritize duties: Completion of picking case carts, restocking, reordering supplies as needed, assisting with O.R. room needs as necessary. Assists with appropriate measures in emergency situations. Works in conjunction with Circulator in preparation for the next scheduled case. Initiates and facilitates room turnovers: Light housekeeping duties, procurement of equipment, supplies and X-Rays. Restocking of unused supplies and equipment. Participates in the reprocessing process.

NW REGIONAL ESD'S MISSION STATEMENT: In partnership with the communities we serve, Northwest Regional ESD improves student learning by providing equitable access to high quality services and support.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Outdoor School Registered Nurse provides nursing assessments, health screenings, health
counseling, treatment of minor injuries or ailments, medication administration, and referral
services for more in-depth medical service. The RN position is located at one of five Outdoor
School sites and may be assigned to provide health services to numerous students at various
campsites within the Northwest Outdoor Science School, and the assignments can change,
depending on emerging student health needs.
Ideal candidates for this position have interest in the field of pediatrics, interest in working in
outdoor education, and desire living in close knit communities while practicing as a Registered
Nurse. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
This position requires the employee to live on-site during the work week Monday-Friday. Room
and board are provided. Our program operates at multiple sites in Northwest Oregon near the
following communities; Vernonia, Salem, Cloverdale, Rockaway Beach, and Welches. This
position is seasonal, but there may be an opportunity available to continue employment in
future sessions.
The employee will be compensated 50 hours per week. Weekly schedules vary from
Monday-Friday or Sunday-Thursday. Most work weeks are 5 days. Due to the seasonal
camp-based nature of this position, it is exempt for state overtime wage regulations.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 1. Current RN license and licensed to practice in the state of Oregon.

tasks. Other Duties may be assigned. The duties listed below are not inclusive, but

A. Provide health supervision, counseling and leadership
B. Coordinate with students, families, school personnel, and community resources to manage students with chronic and acute health issues such as: asthma, life-threatening allergies, concussion management, substance misuse, and mental health
C. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhere to safety practices, administer first aid handling hazardous materials, operate equipment used for cleaning, and operate standard office equipment
D. Prepare and maintain accurate records, promote child centered environment, and record keeping
E. Maintain facilities for dispensary and infirmary care
F. Administer current and appropriate first aid as needed
G. Administer all medications and treatments according to physician's order. Retain and dispense all medications to students and counselors as prescribed
H. Assess illness and accidents and determine appropriate treatment or referral to physician or hospital
I. Make decisions on whether students should be sent home for medical reasons or remain at the Outdoor School
J. Keep record of all drugs, medicines, and first-aid treatments in ledger and electronic databases as required
K. File accident reports with supervisor
L. Support, comfort, and protect students who may have difficulty adjusting to Outdoor Science School and being away from home
M. Oversee the safe and healthful operation of the Outdoor Science School site
N. Serve as "health advisor" to Outdoor Science School staff, teachers, kitchen staff, counselors and students, increasing their awareness of good health and safety practices.
O. Perform collateral duties as assigned by the supervisor
P. Be involved in all phases of the Outdoor Science School program as needed
Q. Maintain strong links with the state and local health department to reduce the risk of infectious disease, mental health concerns, substance misuse disorders, health education, screenings, referrals and follow up
R. Partner with the local health department to integrate current public health information into health and safety planning
S. Communicate with site supervisors and the Outdoor Science School Nurse Coordinator regarding new public health policies and procedures
T. Assure that Outdoor Science School site health policies and procedures adhere to federal, state, and current standards of the Nursing Practice Act, and are correctly implemented throughout the school system
U. Serve as a leader in the Outdoor Science School for communicable disease control
